What is Extension?Extension is a partnership between federal, state and county governments to provide scientific knowledge and expertise to the public. The University of Florida, together with Florida A&M University, administers the Florida Cooperative Extension Service.

At the University of Florida, Extension is located in the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, and is called UF/IFAS Extension.

UF/IFAS Sea Grant and legal department representatives presented on the topic of ‘Managed Mooring Field’s’ to the Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners. The presentation discussed public policies, right to navigate, anchoring versus managed mooring fields, local government enforcement allowances and the State of Florida Pilot Program. The presentation was very informative for our elected officials and staff. We are very appreciative of the partnership we have with UF/IFAS and the ability to utilize experts in a variety of subject matters.
