· Need of contextualization of works of art in museum experiences.

· People like/dislike artwork but lack background info to understand it.

· Timelines: conventional way of giving framework. Functional & practical representations but boring & dull. Stand-alone pieces placed at the beginning of exhibitions. Difficult for visitors to come back to them.

Connected museum platform in which people can enhance their visit individually, through ‘compasses’ which interact with the artwork and allow contextualization at any time, and collectively, through a culminating installation where their experience is expanded, shared and re-contextualized. Both types of input are linked throughout the visit.

LIFELINESCOMPASS

These are saved in the compass's memory and can be re-lived at the end of the journey in the 'Lifelines' installation.

LIFELINESINSTALLATION

The strings represent the years of the timeline, relating to the content topics; they are made of fiber optics and when pulled down trigger output of information for that specific year.

Years and contents can be combined and compared by pulling different strings at the same time or at different spots of the installation.

Visitors who carry a compass are recognized.

Automatic visualization of the connections in time and space among the pieces they observed during the visit.

People map themselves in Berrocal's lifeline through the input of basic data: year of birth, country, age & gender. Clearer reference by placing themselves as part of the system and provide statistical data to the museum.
