The nibs designed and manufactured by the Manuscript Pen Company are of an exceptional quality. I can say that, because we use them in our professional practise for the execution of complex calligraphy, line drawing and heraldic illustration. I also use them for demonstrating calligraphy at various conference and events centred around the public.

The poster nibs are a brilliant part of the family of writing instruments, especially for demonstrating in public. They produce large lettering and the square edged nib allows you to create complex scripts such as Fraktur and Roman Rustics, to be shown with ease. The fold in these nibs holds ink beautifully and is great for twisting and turning on the nib and the edged. However, it is with the smaller nibs that I have the greatest love for, as these are the ones I use the most.

The round hand nibs have changed over the years and to date are the best form that Manuscript have designed. They produce sharp clean lines and are sturdy enough to withstand a heavy hand but will also flex to give pressure and release Italic and Roman Capitals.

The Leonardt EF Principal is undoubtedly one of the finest pointed nibs in the world, not only can it produce copperplate script at 20mm in height, for a minim letter (an ‘m’) it will, almost immediately after allow for delicate Spencerian script and its attendant Off Hand Flourishing of foliage and birds. The nib is sharp and fine and lasts for a considerable time, even with continuous writing.

I am happy to recommend any and all of the nibs produced by Manuscript.
