Manufacturer qualification

The introduction of thestandard EN 1090 at thebeginning of 2011 containsthat welding workshopshave to fulfil uniformrequirements for weldingwork subject to mandatorysupervision. Only orders formetal structures can bedistributed to companiesthat have been inspectedand certified by arecognised organisationsuch as TV NORD.

The European Standard EN1090 is gradually replacingthe previous GermanStandard DIN 18800. At themoment, the end of thecoexistence is yet not clearlydefined.

However, the newstandard is not the samefor all workshops: dependingon the type of load-bearing structureto be welded, the welding process used,the material and other criteria, the standarddivides into four different execution classes.Special requirements must be fulfilled for aluminiumstructures, tank installations, fairground rides and othertemporary structures.

TV NORD has the necessary accreditations in order toperform manufacturer qualifications in the area of thePressure Equipment Directive, the railway and the defencetechnology sectors.
