Modification steam inlet into sole plate (Silicone Tube)

Work instruction N° 5 (IT19AE01)

4. Subject of procedure: To modify the steam inlet into the sole plate

5. Date of entry into effect: In repair service: 20.01.97

8. Comments: The purpose of this procedure is to prevent premature aging of the monotube and the necessity of exchanging it.

9. Annexes: Exploded view

How to proceed:

1. Open the rear cover of the iron.

2. Cut 4 cm, from the steam tube.

3. Clean the steam inlet connector.

4. Introduce the brass coupling connector (pos. 44, item 414.0000.706) into the steam tube.

5. Ensure the seal with the clamp clic (pos. 45, item 441.0000.706) using the special clamp, paying attention that the prominent part of the flange once clamped is oriented towards the inside of the iron.

6. Fit together the silicone tube (pos. 43, item 444.0000.703) to the brass connector (pos. 44, item 414.0000.706) already attached to the steam tube and place the clamp (pos. 45, item 416.0000.706) to make the seal.

7. Using the clamp (pos. 45, item 416.0000.706), attach the other end of the silicone tube (pos. 43, item 444.0000.703) to the connector steam inlet of the sole plate.

Caution: During these operations, one must make sure not to damage the silicone tube with the flanges or any tool. In addition, one must take care when closing the rear cover that the silicone tube does not bend. If necessary, shorten the silicone tube.

8. Perform the test with the steam to check the impermeability and proper functioning (iron open).

9. Re-close the rear cover of the iron.

10. Perform the steam test again after closing, because the tube can bend during this operation.

Comments: This modification does not need to be done systematically, but only in case of intervention on the monotube to avoid changing it completely or shortening it.

The Standard Exchange Generator Evolution ( SEGE ) is now available by lots of 4 pieces per carton, each skid containing 24 cartons ( 96 SEGES available per palet, to be ordered by Production Planning Form 1 month in advance as for complete appliances ) Three different work instructions are available to adapt the SEGEs on Premium C tables, as follows : WORK INSTRUCTION N°1 : Low cost, asks for much precision You have to work with an ankle drill. Putting a SEGE on a Premium C table consists shortly in the following steps: - Pierce 8 wholes in the legs of the Premium C table ( work with a template, 1 whole is small and the other one is bigger on each side of the bracket ). The wholes have to be done at the millimeter precise and the whole has to be pierced perpendicularly of the legs, otherwise you will not be able putting the generator in the brackets. - Fix the 2 metal brackets on the legs - Put the plastic lid for AS fan in the generator - Place the logo Premium Evolution on the generator - Fix the generator Evolution on the brackets

WORK INSTRUCTION N°2 : Middle cost, high quality of the repair - In this case, you can change the feet of the table Premium C, and put the feet of the table Premium Evolution (item 536.0008.704) by retiring the 4 POP-Rivets and placing 4 new ones. This procedure is the easiest and the best one in matter of quality and cost of the repair WORK INSTRUCTION N°3 : High cost, high quality of the repair - In this case, you can propose to the customer to purchase a new table Premium N ( item number 511.0008.704) More expensive but "new" table for the customer at a good price.

Work instruction for measuring the temperature on iron sole plate

Work instruction for measuring the temperature of the Iron sole plate

Tools needed: Repair Bench with thermoelement Notice: - Make sure that the thermoelement is in good condition. - Yearly calibration of the measuring material is advised - If possible, work with an infrared measuring material Type MANOTHERM 32 Description of the procedure:

• Temperature adjuster of the iron has to be positioned in the middle of 3 points • Place the iron on the support of the Repair Bench, correctly leant against the thermoelement • Let the system heat during 2 Cycles • Again, place the iron against the thermoelement so as to optimize the surface of contact, and wait

for the stabilization of the temperature.

1. Wait for the stabilization of the temperature 2. Then proceed to the measuring of Tmin and Tmax on 5 Heating Cycles 3. Introduce the datas in the hierunder table

Medium Temperature on 3 Points ( Tmax+Tmin) should reach 180°C +/- 10 2

No water drops can possibly appear at this level of temperature ( ooo und MAX ). The ALPHA and Steamup irons undergo a special surface treatment on the inside of the sole plate, which highly increases the surface tension and prevents the development of water drops at low temperatures. Should the water drops problem remain, then only can the thermostat itself be involved in the defect, or eventually the presence of a substance which decreases the surface tension in the sole plate, and induces the immediate development of water drops when steam reaches the sole plate.
