    categories

    CategoriesWordpress allows you to organize and manage your website content withcategories.When you install Wordpress there is a all back category createdwhich is called uncategorized, whenever you create something in Wordpress and

    orget to assign a category Wordpress automatically moved it to the uncategoriedcategory.

    Dont Go Overboard!

    Te whole point o using Categories is to assist website visitors with navigating

    your site. I you have 250 different categories on your site you will easily conuseand discourage visitors rom using your website. ry to keep the number o yourcategories less than 20.

    permalinks

    Setting up your permalinksSimply put, permalinks allow you to design the way your website links appear, by deault they looklike this;

    http://mydomain.com/?p=12

    Te ?p= part o the link reerences a post or page ID which isnt very useul unless you knowthe ID or every page on your website. Its a good idea to adjust the link appearance to somethingmore practical such as;

    http://mydomain.com/contact/

    ShopperPress is best setup with the permalink strucutre /%postname%/ as in our experience thisis best or SEO and user navigation.

    1. Overview- email management

    Admin Area Email ManagerTe email manager allows additonal emails to be sent during triggered events such as registrations, ormsubmission etc.

    We have developed the themes to use two data types;

    1. $_POS orm data2. User data

    What does this mean?

    Bascially this means any data thats send via $_POS or ound within the user account during the trigger o

    the email unction could be used within the emails.

    Te reason or using these two is because it allows you to customize the themes, add-on new content suchas registration plugins and still be able to use the data stored when the page is submitted.

    how do they work?

    How do child themes work?Child theme contents (styles/images/files etc) load afer the initial core files loadthereore they take priority over the core styles when the page is rendered in yourbrowser. For example;

    Te above image shows how the style sheets load, first is the core styles, then its themain theme styles and finally the child theme styles.

    By adding core CSS code to your child theme styles, you can overwrite the deaultdesign layout and customize it anyway you like.

    creating child themes

    Creating your own child themeCreating your own child theme is very straight orward, you first create a new olderwithin the themes older, or example shopperpress-my-child-theme.

    Within the newly create shopperpress-my-child-theme older we then create twomore olders, css and images and later add a file called screenshot.png which issimply a screenshot/preview image o your new theme.

    Within the css older we add a file called styles.css which is where you will add any o yournew customized css styles.

    Within the images older you add any o the images you want to link to rom your styles.cssfile.

    I you want to completely replace one o the core files such as _header.php you can copy thedeault one and put that into the child theme older also.
