Step 1If the OPC drum is going to be replaced, usethe Drum Drive Axle Removal Tool toremove the drum drive axle (See photo 1).You will install it later on a new drum. Toremove the drive axle, insert the C-shapedclaw of the tool under the drive flange of theaxle. Use the lip on the drum end plate asleverage to pry the drive axle out (See pho-tos 2 & 3).

Step 2Using wire cutters, grab the car-tridge pins and pull them out (Seephoto 4 & 5).

Step 3Separate the two sections of thecartridge (See photo 6). Set the tonerunit aside.

Step 4Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the twoscrews holding the drum end plate (Seephoto 7). Remove the drum end plate andclean it with cotton swabs and lint-freecloth. Apply fresh high temperature grease(See photo 8).

Step 5 Carefully lift up on the gear end of the drumand remove it off the drum contact axle (Seephoto 9). If the drum is going to be reused,place it in a protected area away from light.

Step 6Lift out the PCR (See photo 10). Clean thePCR using a dry lint-free cloth.

Step 7Remove two screws holding the wiper blade(See photo 11).

Step 8Remove the wiper blade (See photo 12).Clean the waste hopper using dry, com-pressed air or a vacuum.

Step 9Apply padding powder to a new or once-used wiper blade. Place the blade onto thewaste hopper and install the two screwsthat hold the blade in place (See photo 13).

Step 12Install the drum end plate and two screwsholding it in place (See photo 16).

Step 13Rotate the drum to ensure that the drumand wiper blade are properly lubricated.Clean the padding powder off the PCRusing a lint-free cloth.

Step 14Using an X-acto knife, cut the plasticweld holding the chip in place (Seephoto 17). Install the new chip ontothe waste hopper. Set the waste unitaside in a protected area away fromlight.

Step 10Clean the PCR saddles using cotton swabs.Apply new conductive grease to the blackconductive saddle. Install the clean PCR(See photo 14).

Step 11Apply padding powder to the drum. Applyconductive grease to the drum contact axle.Carefully slide the drum onto the drum con-tact axle (See photo 15).

Step 15Starting on the toner unit, removethe right side drum shutter guide barfrom the hinge post (See photo 18).Remove the spring-loaded drumshutter arm using a small flat-bladescrewdriver (See photo 19). Removeleft side guide bar from the hingepost. Do not lose the shutter armspring (See photo 20)

Step 17Remove the two screws holding the contactend cap to the toner hopper. Remove theend cap (See photo 22). Clean the contactend cap and the white bearing with cottonswabs. Apply conductive grease to the con-tact.

Step 18Lift the mag roller away from the toner hop-per (See photo 23).

Step 19Remove the mag roller stabilizing bar andthe mag roller bushings from the ends of themag roller. Clean the mag roller first with drycompressed air or a vacuum, and then byusing a dry lint-free cloth (See photo 24).Clean the mag roller spring contact with lint-free cloth.

Step 16Remove the two screws holding the gearhousing end cap. Remove the end cap andmag roller drive gear (See photo 21).

Step 20Clean the mag roller stabilizing bar and bush-ings with cotton swabs and a lint-free cloth.Inspect the mag roller bushings and C-bear-ing of the stabilizing bar. Replace them if theyare worn or cracked. Apply high temperaturegrease onto the C-bearing of the stabilizingbar.

Step 21Remove the two screws holding the doctorblade (See photo 25).

Step 22Remove the plastic scrapers from the endsof the doctor blade and remove the blade(See photo 26). Clean the doctor bladeusing a lint-free cloth.

Step 23Dump the remaining toner from the tonerhopper. Clean the toner hopper using drycompressed air or a vacuum.

Step 24Fill the toner hopper with HP P3015-typetoner through the mag roller opening. Use280 grams for the CE2255A cartridge and550 grams for the CE255X cartridge.

Step 25Place the cleaned doctor blade onto thetoner hopper. Install the plastic scrapers oneach side of the blade and the two screwsthat hold the doctor blade in place (Seephoto 27).

Step 26Slide the black mag roller bushing onto thecontact side of the mag roller, and the greenbushing onto the drive gear side of the magroller. Install the stabilizing bar with the C-bearing onto the mag roller (See photo 28).

Step 29Install the mag roller drive gear (Seephoto 31). Install gear housing endcap and two mounting screws thathold it in place (See photo 32).

Step 32Place the drum drive axle into a socket ofthe drum gear and position the Drum DriveAxle Removal Tool on top of the drive axle(See photo 36). Use the extended flange onthe waste hopper gear end as leverage topress the drive axle down until it snaps intoits place (See photos 37 & 38).

Step 30Install the left-side guide bar of thedrum shutter into the hinge post onthe contact side of the toner hopper(See photo 33). Set the spring in theshutter arm and install the shutterarm onto the positioning post (Seephoto 34). Install the right side guidebar of the drum shutter into the hingepost on the gear housing side of thetoner hopper. Slide the drum shutteropen to engage the shutter armspring.
