Materials

Making a mixing bay

- level the ground

- diameter should be2 metres

- mortar should be:* 1 pail of cement* 2¿ pails of

river sand* 4 pails of

quarry stone

For 1 sanplat you need;

* 6 litres of cement

* 10 litres of sand

* 10 litres ofquarry stones

For 5 sanplats you will

need 1 bag of cement

Making the Platfom

- mortar for each platformshould be:* 5 litres of cement* 8 litres of sand* 8 litres of quarry stone

- level the ground with thelonger piece of wood

- cover the ground with paper

- put the frame on the paper

- put the drop hole mouldexactly in the middle,using a string

- fill the frame withconcrete and compact well

cut a groove in front andbehind the drop hole mould,exactly in the middle ofthe concrete

put the two 30 cm bars inthe grooves, cover the barsand compact well

compact the concrete withthe 30cm wood, for smoothinclination

. polish the surface with apolishing trowel or a bigtrowel

- scratch the area of thefoot rests, using the footrest nould* scratches nust be deepenough, for goodfixation of foot reststo the platforn

- inscribe the sanplat

Making the foot rests

- mortar for each sanplatshould be:* £ litre of cement* 1 litre of sand* 1 litre of quarry stone

- soak the platform withwater

- smear the scratched areawith water and cement

- center the foot rest mouldaround the drop hole

- fill the holes for the footrests with stiff mortar

- cut and finish the edgesand polish the footrests

Making the lid

- nortar for each sanplatshould be:* i litre of cement* 1 litre of Band* 1 litre of quarry stone

- bend the 75 cm bar to makethe handle

- put a piece of wet paper inthe drop hole, fill thedrop hole with mortar andshape the surface

- cut a groove in the middleof the lid, place thehandle and compact wellbefore finishing thesurface

- inscribe the lid

Curing

- renove the lid on the3rd day after it was castedand keep the drop hole fullof water

- for full strength of thecement f the sanplat Bust bekept damp for at leastone week

Common mistakes i

- quarry stones too big

- no smooth surface of drophole sidas, due to:* bad compactation* big quarry stones

- no smooth corners ofplatform: •* compact well in corners* remove mould carefully

* crack in the lid:* remove lid on 3rd day* centre handle in themiddle of the lid

* compact well

- foot rests and lid toothick :* polishing not well done
