SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Read this manual carefully before proceeding with any handling, operation and maintenance action. Failure to follow safety recommendations, could lead to serious physical and material injury. This manual should be accessible to all people involved in the installation, operation and maintenance of the equipment. The equipment described in this manual were designed and tested to operate within their nominal values. Use outside this range may result in malfunction, and could cause serious physical and material injury. The cells and switches are equipped with safety interlocks making its use simple and secure. Do not force them. This equipment can be remotely controlled and contains live and mechanical parts that move at high speed. In the cells with circuit breakers, never perform checks on the circuit-breaker while it is closed or with the closing springs charged. The circuit breaker must be open and the closing springs discharged. This equipment contains the fluorinated greenhouse gas SF6 covered by the Kyoto Protocol and with a global warming potential (GWP) 22 200. SF6 shall be recovered and not released into the atmosphere. For further information on use and handling of SF6 please refer to IEC 62271-303: High voltage switchgear and controlgear – Part 303 Use and handling of sulphur hexafluoride (SF6).

Direct incoming function (CD) Unit allows direct cable incoming or outgoing.

Functioning principle Examples of usage

CI1(M)

"Tumbler" operating mechanism type. The opening and closing operations are executed manually, or electrically, through a motorized system, with speed independent of that of the operator's action. (Time of functioning <=2s to Un)

Used in IS function. Base equipment for the "input output" functions (Starting or stopping the service for part of the network) The CI1M allows remote control of the ISF.

CI2(M)

"Tumbler" operating mechanism fitted with opening-only retention system. The operator manually executes a closing operation following by an equipment arming operation. In this way, the control remains capable of an opening operation, in a reduced time (< 100 ms), using an electromagnet, a triping fuse or an operation button.

Used in the CIS function. Triping of switch by fusion of one or more fuses (protection of a charge by combined fuses). Triping of switch using transformer protection relays. Switch opening.

CDV(M)

Stored energy spring operating mechanism. Opening and closing operations are made applying the springs stored energy to the breaker main shaft, connected to the vacuum interrupters moveable contacts. Operations are performed, in less than 100 ms, through a push-button, a tripping coil or protection relay.

Standard equipment for “Cable protection function with circuit breaker”. CDVM enables the DIVAC G circuit breaker remote operation.

"Tumbler" mechanism functioning principle The lever operation pulls a spring outside its equilibrial position. In this position the spring is released and suddenly stretched independently of the operator.

6. AVAILABLE OPERATING MECHANISM OPTIONS 6.1 Locking by padlock This kind of locking uses padlocks to block access to the lever insertion slot. All switch and earth switch operating mechanisms can use padlocks.

6.2 Locking by lock This kind of locking uses locks to block access to the lever insertion slot. Each lock has a key which can only be removed in the locked position. It is (optionally) possible to fit 3 locks, which can lock as follows:

• A - Open switch

• B - Open earth switch

• C - Closed earth switch

6.3 Electrical equipment The operating mechanisms for the switch disconnectors and circuit breakers can be fitted with motorization, opening spring, indicators micros, or any other equipment appropriate for remote control of the unit. If necessary an (optional) additional low voltage compartment can be added to allow installation of any other equipment required.

7. SF6 SYSTEM FLUOFIX GC equipment is sealed for the whole of its life (in accordance with IEC 62271). Various routine tests assure the leak-tightness of this equipment. The service life expectancy of this equipment is 35 years. The stainless steel tank of the FLUOFIX GC is filled with SF6 gas, at a relative pressure of 0.3 bar. If it is necessary to remove the SF6 from inside the tank (the tank was designed to support being completely empty) the recommended procedure is as follows:

• Remove the switchgear cover

• Remove the voltage indicator (this is installed in the valve)

• The valve will then be accessible.

FLUOFIX GC units are shipped individually on wooden pallets (fixed by four screws and covered with transparent plastic film). Fittings for the assembly and connection of FLUOFIX GC units are packed separately.

9. RECEIPT When the units are received, you should identify and confirm:

• The function through the synoptic

10. INSTALLATION 10.1 Ground preparation There must be a flat level of at least 2 mm/m, to allow easy assembly and a good final look. 10.2 Unpacking Have the cubicles close to your assembly site and follow the prescribed order:

• Remove the transparent plastic film

• Open the door of the cable compartment (ensuring that the earth switches are closed)

• Remove the four fixing screws keeping the cubicle on its base (key 17)

• Carefully rotate the unit to free it from its base and put it on the ground according to the transportation instructions

10.3 Site installation

• Remove the door of the front cable compartment

• Position the unit and confirm it is vertical, wedging it if required

• Fix it to the ground 10.4 Joining extensible units Extensible units can only be joined to other extensible units. Extensible units are supplied with an insulating protection cap on each phase. The cap must only be removed to link 2 units.

10.5 Fixing to the ground Consult the unit installation plan for your configuration, the general dimensions and the recommended ground fixing points. Units are fixed to the ground by means of M8 fixing screws (4 fixing points on the outer cubicles).

10.6 Earth circuit connection All NORMAFIX components (busbars, cable connections, fuses, etc.) are interconnected and connected to earth through a common circuit. See the common busbar connection point on the diagram below.

10.7 Cable connection The FLUOFIX GC was designed to use removable pre-formed connectors (shielded or unshielded), or thermoretractiles, of the following types:

"Direct" connector

"Elbow" connector

"T" connector

Coiled "T" connectors, for 400/630A junctions in the incoming outgoing functions. The connectors must be compatible with copper or aluminium insulated cables. Raychem RSTI, Euromold K400 or equivalent connectors can be used. Connectors with "direct" or "elbow" fittings for 200A junctions. The connectors must be compatible with copper or aluminium insulated cables. Raychem RSES or RSSS, Euromold K158LR or K152SR or equivalent connectors can be used.

Choosing cables and connectors is the client's responsibility. Cables and connectors must be compatible with FLUOFIX GC equipment. Use connectors with features compliant with DIN 47636 and EDF HN52-S-61 standards. Follow the manufacturers' instructions to install cable connectors.

10.8 Fuse fitting Open the door of the fuse compartment. (Earth switch must be closed). Remove the cap of the fuse carrier by turning the lever anti-clockwise.

Remove the lever and turn the cap manually (anti-clockwise). The cap of the fuse carrier will be released.

Fit the fuse into the cap of the fuse carrier (hammer towards the lid). Refit the cap (with the fuse) following the reverse procedure. (Confirm the cap is correctly oriented)

Note: Clean the conical edge of the cap (it is not necessary to use silicone).

11. COMMISSIONING 11.1 Essential checks

• Confirm that the busbar, cables, earth circuits and auxiliary BT circuits are correctly connected.

• Confirm that the fuses, busbar and cable field deflectors and cable compartment panels are all correctly assembled.

• Confirm whether the pressure indicator is in the green zone. 11.2 Equipment performance

• Confirm that the equipment and locks are functioning well by operating the Switches and Isolating Switches several times.

11.3 Power on input cables

• Confirm that all the switch disconnectors are in the "open" position. 11.4 Voltage presence control

• Having powered on the IS "A" function cables, check that the voltage presence indicators L1, L2, L3, which are mounted on the control panel, are on.

• Power on the IS "B" function cables and check that the voltage presence indicators are on.

11.5 Phase relationship control in the "Incoming" functions Confirm the phase agreement by using the removable control device "C":

• Introduce the male plug "C" into the function “A” L3 device's test socket

• Introduce the male plug "C" into the function “B” L3 device's test socket If there is phase agreement:

• The lights on the L3 control device for A and B functions are on.

• The removable device "C"'s light is off.

If there is phase disagreement:

• The L3 control device's lights are dim.

• The removable device "C"'s light is on.

Repeat these steps for L1 and L2 phases. Note: To confirm that the removable phase agreement device is functioning correctly, attach its two plugs to two phases on the same cell: the light should come on. 11.6 Power on busbar and combined fuse protection

• Turn off the switch(es) on the incoming cell(s).

• Turn off the switch(es) on the outgoing cell(s).

• Confirm whether the voltage presence indicators L1, L2 and L3 of this final cell are on.

12. OPERATION 12.1. Switchgear

Cells are shipped with the switch in the "open" position and the earth switch "closed". Motorised features are not operational if the manual operating lever is fitted.

The mechanism is operated by a non-return lever, whose function is to stop the switch being opened immediately after it is closed.

12.2. Opening earth switch (common to CI1 and CI2 operating mechanism types)

• This operation is only possible when the earth switch is closed

• Move the swing mechanism locking tab

• Insert the lever into the earth switch operation slot

• Open the earth switch by turning the lever anti-clockwise to the "open" position This will allow the cable front panel to lock and the open switch position to be released.

12.3. Closing earth switch (common to CI1 and CI2 operating mechanism types)

• This operation is only possible if the switch is in the open position

• Insert the lever into the earth switch operation slot

• Confirm that no voltage is running through the cables (check the voltage presence indicator)

• Close the earth switch, lifting the lever clockwise to its final position

This operation:

• Closes the earth switch

• Unlocks the cable access panel

• Locks the switch in the open position

12.4. Switch closing (CI1 operating mechanism - Incoming / outgoing function)

• This operation is only possible when the earth switch is in the "open" position

• Insert the lever into the switch operation slot

• Move the lever clockwise to its final position - the switch will close suddenly.

• The Earth Switch operating mechanism is locked in the "open" position.

12.5. Switch opening (CI1 operating mechanism - Incoming / outgoing function)

• This operation is only possible when the Switch is in the closed position

• Insert the lever into the switch operation slot

• Move the lever anti-clockwise until it reaches the "open" position - the switch will open suddenly

• The earth switch operating mechanism is then unlocked

12.6. Close switch and reset for opening (CI2 operating mechanism - cable protection function)

• This operation is only possible when the earth switch is in the open position

• Insert the lever into the switch operation slot

• Move clockwise to its final position

• When the switch closes, the lever remains in place

Please note this essential operation after closing the ISF:

• You must move the lever anti-clockwise to reset the spring.

• You can now remove the operating lever. The switch is now ready to be opened (moving it anti-clockwise).

12.7. Open switch (CI2 operating mechanism - cable protection function) The switch opening operation can be done:

• Manually (trigger button on operating mechanism)

• By an opening coil (optional)

• By fuses (mechanical fuse action)

12.8 Circuit breaker spring (re)charging (CDV operating mechanism - Cable protection function) DIVAC G circuit-breakers are fitted with a standard closing spring manual (re)charge mechanism. The manual charging operation is made applying a pumping action with the charging lever. After about ten pumping movements, the (re)charging will be completed and signalized by the charging condition indicator and lever action stops to charge closing springs.

Attention: To disarm the closing spring, it is necessary to perform an operation cycle (closing plus opening). This operation should be performed only when strictly necessary. Automatic spring re(charge) Optionally, the circuit breaker can be fitted with a recharging motor, enabling the automatic closing spring recharge after each closing operation. This option is especially suitable for auto-reclosing sequences. If power failure occurs during automatic recharge, a manual recharge could be performed to complete the operation.

12.9 Circuit breaker operation (CDV operating mechanism - Cable protection function) The circuit breaker closing/opening operation is obtained by pressing the closing/opening pushbutton.

If the circuit breaker is fitted with electric closing and opening coils, it is also possible to perform local or remote electric operations. When the unit is fitted with a self-powered protection relay (and the necessary current sensors) the circuit breaker can be tripped whenever a fault occurs. Optionally a closing pushbutton interlock (through lock) can be supplied. 12.10 Self-powered relay (Cable protection function – CDV mechanism) The cable protection function (with circuit breaker) can be fitted with a protection solution, which includes a self-powered overcurrent protection relay and a set of current sensors. The circuit breaker is tripped whenever a fault is detected by the self-powered protection relay.

13. MAINTENANCE The Fluofix GC does not require maintenance, once all the active parts and the main circuit are inside the tank full of SF6. However, after prolonged service interruption or whenever you notice a service interruption, you are advised to take the following steps:

• Visual inspection for confirmation that the material is in good condition.

• Verification that the operating mechanisms and locks are functioning correctly.

• Confirmation that the cable connectors are correctly attached. 14. CABLE TESTING Procedure for testing cables:

• Open the Switch-disconnector

• Close the earth switch

• Remove the cable compartment access panel

• Open the earth switch

• Send voltage to the cable connector directly (the connector manufacturers will be able to provide accessories for cable testing)

• When tests are complete return to original state.

Optionally, Fluofix units can be equipped with sockets specifically for testing cables (see diagram). The sockets allow you to test cables without directly using cable connectors.

• Open the Switch-disconnector

• Close the earth switch

• Remove the earth busbars which short circuit the sockets

• Send voltage into the sockets to test the cables

• When the tests are completed, return to original state
