Well the bullet list(not bucket list) seemed ok last month. So in the interest of time and efficiency, I'll try it again.

1.) Our March meeting is sneaking up quickly on us. It is this next Thursday, March 9th at Stoneridge in Lexington. And for any of us that use CPk's or PPk's, this should be rewarding. See sec'n #1. rsvp Donna P.Bob Doering will lead us on an in-depth but light hearted look at CPk's & other Capability indices!!!

About it : Capability Indices - Are they capable?

Capability indices are often used to judge if a process offers customer satisfaction. But do the capability indices themselves offer customer satisfaction? Are they providing valuable information for their "service"?Customers have forced onto their suppliers the classic Ppk and Cpk capability requirements - yet, few understand the limited application or meaning of these indices. Many automotive customers are oblivious to the limitations specified in their own AIAG manuals! Stop...take a breath...and discover what is really going on with capability indices. Find out what their value - if any - really is! Presentation includes a case study of capability analysis of non-normal characteristics.

Bob Doering professional biography:

Bob Doering has been in the quality field for over 20 years.He is currently a quality engineer for an automotive component manufacturing firm.He has industrial experience for nearly 40 years, many of which were in precision machining of automotive and medical components. He is an adjunct instructor at Lorain County Community College in Engineering Technology and Enrollment Services departments, and has lectured classes in Metrology and Quality Management. He holds associates degrees from Lorain County Community College of Elyria, Ohio and The University of Akron of Akron, Ohio; BA in Business and MBA in Systems Management from Baldwin-Wallace College, Berea, Ohio. He holds CMI and formerly held CMQ/OE, CQE, CQA (ASQ) certifications. He has implemented the CorrectSPC concepts in precision machining for over 20 years with significant success.

2.) Greetings from our Mansfield Section Chair :

Hello fellow Quality Professionals,

This month, we have a fellow ASQ Member, Bob Doering, speaking about "Capability Indices: Are they capable?" This sounds very interesting to me, since we use Cpk values to determine whether our processes need to be improved @ Whirlpool.  No doubt, you also use some of these capability indices to measure Quality processes where you work also! Bob has spoken at one of our meetings in the past and it was very interesting, so make a point to put this meeting on your calendar ASAP.  A big thank you to Tom @ Stoneridge for agreeing to sponsor our meeting again in March!  At least our monthly meeting is before the March Madness begins & before we Spring Forward on the Full Moon on March 12th.   That should definitely ensure there is March Madness everywhere the following week!
