Flexibility of use and simplicity of design combine to make the ME 7.62 GPMG (General Purpose Machine Gun) an outstandingly effective and reliable weapon. A very versatile weapon it can be fitted to all types of platforms incuding; armoured vehicles, patrol boats, helicopters and light aircraft. In the infantry role the GPMG is designed to serve as either a Light Machine Gun (LMG) or as a Sustained Fire Machine Gun (SFMG). In the LMG role it is fired from a bipod, and in the SFMG mode from a tripod. Coaxial Armament version is mounted alongside the main armament on battle tanks. The rate of fire is controlled by a gas plug which has one gas port and three compensating holes. As the gun warms up the compensating holes uncover, regulating the gasses and stabilising the rate of fire at 625 —750 rpm. Feed tray and the feed arm, chrome plated for long life, with direct feed into chamber and aluminium feed housing cover to save weight. Backsight adjustment from 200—800 meters on base and 800 — 1800 meters on slide. Ammo fed by disintegrating link (M13) belts. For infantry use 200 round belts are issued. Left or right hand feed options available. Non—disintegrating (DM1) belts are an option - complete c rpm - 900 rpm
