A native New Yorker, Ed was born in Marih.at.tan , raised in Queens, attended P. S. 13 and Newton High School. His first job after graduation was with the Equitable Life Assurance Co" NY until 1955 when he enlisted in the Navy. For the next two years Ed was stationed at Chincotague Va. as an aircraft structural rrre c ha.n i c, These years, recalls Ed, were particularly uneventful except for one slight detail -- it vias during t4-:4 pc ri od that he m a r r ie d 'hi s "\~••"->'~ Jackie, in April of 1957. After his discharge late the same year, Ed and Jackie r etu.rne d to New York and in March of the fol- lowing year Ed joined ONA as Port Steward. A little later he was transferred into the Operations Dept. as a Dispatcher.
