The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relevance ofthe concept of Six-Sigma and to examine the challenges ofimplementing this methodology in academia and proposesa framework that serves as a guide for implementing six-sigma in academic institutions.

This paper tries to offer insight by answering two generalquestions: First, what is six-sigma? Second, if six-sigmaaffects industry and academia, then what are some of theimplications?

The basic premise and analysis in this study should fosteran examination of the fit of six-sigma in industry and aca-demia. It may promote a re-examination of currentcurriculum and accrediting principles.
