Dear Parents and Carers

Year 3 and 4 Football Tournament

On Tuesday the 13th October the second cross-

country race of the season took place at Bishop

Vesey School. Children from Year , 5 and 6,

including some newcomers to the team took on a

challenging course that makes use of the slopes

around the school field. The boys set off first, with

about 125 runners taking part. The team ran with

great determination and excellent individual

results, Ben Stewart (2nd) and James Mann

(29th), were supported by Lewis Cooper, Shailan

Srikanthan, Tom Walker, Ethan Hammond

and Danny Colley. The team were rewarded with

a better overall score than the previous race.

The girls team then approached their race with

equal enthusiasm, and were again successful in

achieving a better overall team score than in Race

1. Amaya Tisdale in Year 5 achieved a fantastic

4th place out of 120 runners, with Caitlin Ralph

(15th), Charlotte Walker, Sophie Perry,

Summer Blakeway and Anna Karafillides all

adding valuable team contributions.

We await the overall team result, hoping to

improve upon the 5th place that the girls achieved

and 11th that the boys finished out of 20 schools.

Congratulations to all that represented the school,

and a big thank you to those who came to support

the team. Mr Wigley

We are delighted to once again have a School Nurse.

She will be visiting our school every fortnight. Some

visits will be for particular themes such as supporting

children with asthma, other visits will be an open drop-

in session for parents.

If you would like to talk with our nurse, you can contact

her directly at:

Lost property

We have an ever growing pile of lost property, including lots of school uniform.

In Reception alone, they have 10 cardigans and sweatshirts in their lost

property pile.

Unfortunately none of the items has a name.

Can parents please mark all items of school

uniform with your child’s full name. This

can be done with a sew in name tag or with

a permanent pen.

Meantime, can parents of children in

Reception check whether an item of school

uniform is missing and if so, please see Miss

Roth or Miss Hewett.

Three years ago we achieved the Investors in People Award. This

week we were delighted to receive our Investors in People Bronze

Award.

Thank you to the many staff who were interviewed for the

assessment. A big thank you to everyone who works at Maney Hill.

Together we make it an excellent place to work.

You can read the full report on our website but here are a few

quotes:

What became evident on the first day is that people thoroughly enjoy

working at the school.

This in turn is reinforced by the school’s extremely supportive and

considerate approach to its staff and the desire to give them the

opportunities to learn and develop.

The school shows a lot of empathy and flexibility in responding to

people’s personal circumstances and doing what it can to support

people’s work-life balance in general.

All staff really enjoy their work and are proud of the role they play in

supporting children’s development.

Golden Time

In Key Stage 2 (Years 3 – 6) we have a

system of Golden Time. The children are

given 30 minutes during Friday afternoon

to engage in an activity of their choice.

Children can lose some or all of their

Golden Time through misbehaviour, such

as talking when the teacher is. During the

week missed Golden Time can be earned

back through very good behaviour.

If children repeatedly miss Golden Time

then parents are informed and invited

into school to discuss the matter. This is

done through a Green Behaviour Letter.

After the half term break, in Key Stage 1

(Years 1 and 2) we are going to trial the

use of Golden Time.

Most children will enjoy 30 minutes of an

activity of their choice. One or two

children may miss some of their Golden

Time. If you would like more information

please see Mrs Freer, Miss Higgins or Mr

Lynch.
