Why so many scriptures

If you’ve read my book, Courage in the Fire, you will realize how powerful the Word of God is to reframe and shape our lives. I’ve created this special printable for you so that you can highlight, absorb and find refuge in these words.

Make them your own and use them as you fight fear and live with love, power and clear thinking.

Promises that replace the stronghold

Charles Stanley understood God’s nature and compassion when he penned these words: “Our heavenly Father understands our disappointment, suffering, pain, fear, and doubt. He is always there to encourage our hearts and help us understand that He's sufficient for all of our needs. When I accepted this as an absolute truth in my life, I found that my worrying stopped.”

Jesus says to you today, “Fear not.” The Bible is full of passages urging us to not give in to fear. These passages speak to fearful, despairing, anxious, discouraged and afraid hearts. In the New King James Version, there are plenty of verses relating to fear. ‘Fear not’ occurs 302 times in 129 verses. ‘Do not be afraid’ is mentioned 286 times in 58 verses and ‘Do not fear’ is referenced 252 times in 69 verses. This is just to show you that there are many, many verses about fear in the Bible.

By the sheer magnitude of the number of verses, we can understand that it is an indispensable concept for us to grasp. God is trying to get our attention. He knows that humans have a tendency to be afraid. Therefore, through His Word, the Lord urges us to live a life free of fear. He doesn’t want us to be trapped by it.

The next section is a storehouse of Scripture. It should take you about 20 minutes to read through in one sitting. While you do this, you are washing and re-patterning your brain with the truth of God’s word. My advice would be to do this every day for 21 days. If 20 minutes is too long for a single sitting, then break it up into 10 verses per day. Feast on these 150 verses and receive God’s heart about living a life without fear.

Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grown. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you – you of little faith? So do not worry, saying “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness , and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

15 Verses about the fear of the Lord

The Lord is glorious, and worthy of all of our praise and worship. He is the Creator of heaven and earth. He is the beginning and the end. He is God, and because He is God we walk in awe of Him, and the way He loves us.

I thought to include just 15 verses on what it means to fear God. This is a healthy fear and it leads to life, love, and joy. Meditate on these verses while allowing your soul to heal.
