NITISH SHARMA NAVJOT SINGH
CASE INTRODUCTION
Manchester United Soccer Club(MUSC) is a football club located in Manchester , New Hampshire.
Formed in 1992 to bring recreational players to a higher level of competition and preparing them for state Olympic development program and higher school teams.
The club currently has 24 boys and girls(age from 9-16) on teams affiliated with Hampshire Soccer Association and Granite State Girls Soccer League.
The club’s Board of Directors have decided to organize a summer invitational soccer tournament to generate revenue.
Hosting a soccer tournament is a popular method of raising funds. MUSC teams regularly competes in 3-4 tournaments every year at
different locations in New England. These tournaments have been reported to generate between $50,000 to
$70,000 for the host club.
Role Of Nicolette Larson
She has recently been elected as Tournament Director by Manchester United Tournament Organizing Committee for organizing the club’s first Summer tournament.
She had proposed a committee brainstorm and then recorded the ideas on a flipchart.
She goes home with a bundle of views and opinions and a headache about a major task to be undertaken.
She tells her husband about the first tournament committee meeting. She is worried about event organization and talks to her husband who
advises her to develop a WORK BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE for the tournament.
THE CASE IS ABOUT ORGANIZING A PROFITABLE EVENT FOR THE FIRST TIME .
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MEETING
We need to have qualified refrees. My son’s team was robbed in a poorly officiated game last time
We must contact the local
colleges so that we may use their fields
What about screening the
teams and getting them
registered
We must see how to reward the teams-medals or trophies
We can contact local corporate
sponsors to fund the
tournament.
We need to consider the t-shirts and sweatshirt
designs
I know an artist whom we can
recruit to develop a unique silk design
