Important Notes: • The student response data gathered in a presentation is

stored in a session (.tpz) file by TurningPoint.

• You must save session data before closing out your TurningPoint presentation. If you don’t, you will lose the data from that class presentation

• After you close your session you should transfer the

session file from the classroom to your office computer.

In this tutorial you will:

Save your session (response data) as a .tpz file on the podium computer

Note: File management from laptop presentations is easy; this tutorial assumes you present from a mediated classroom computer.

Copy the .tpz file from the classroom (podium)

computer to a flash drive

Copy the .tpz file from your flash drive to your office

computer

Bring flash drive to your office computer

When you end a presentation, or any time you stop a session, click on save session (floppy disk icon) on the TP toolbar to save student response data for the session.

DO NOT USE THIS ONE – it will save the presentation, but not the session data!

Click Save to generate a .tpz file with student response data for the session.

In the Save Session window, browse to the Sessions folder.

Change the default File Name to something you can easily identify later.

You are returned to your presentation; Close your presentation (save it only if you have

changed it during the session).

To find the .tpz file, double-click on

My Documents.

To use the session data on your office computer, copy the .tpz file from the classroom computer to your flash drive…

…then double-click on the TurningPoint folder.

Now, double-click on the Sessions folder.

Identify and copy the appropriate .tpz (Sessions) file.

Copy this file to your flash drive; then click here to safely remove the Flash drive.

• Bring your flash drive back to your office computer.• Boot up, plug in the flash drive. • Copy the tpz (and other) files saved from your presentation.

NOTE: If you can access your X-Drive or G-Drive from your office or home computer, you can directly copy the .tpz files without using a flash drive.

Important:

.tpz files must be in the Sessions folder on the computer you will use to view, maintain and report data.

Cautionary Notes:

.tpz files are ‘zipped’ (compressed), containing response data and a copy of your presentation file. Presentation files with embedded movie clips, animations and other images can generate .tpz files in excess of 20 MB.

An X-Drive is not likely to hold all presentations from a single semester. Even a 512 MB flash drive can only hold 10 really big session files.

After copying .tpz files to your office computer, delete them from the classroom computer and from your flash drive as well.
