value is recomputed and updated in SmarTeam each time a SmarTeam/Save orSmarTeam/CheckIn is performed on a checked-out/new/released assembly.

• Drawing Attribute Link - When the user creates a drawing of a product, generates balloons, and saves the drawing to SmarTeam, the CATIA integrationcreates links of each part of the product that is also linked to the drawing. SDEnormally uses the balloon feature for drafting interactivity. Therefore, when aSmarTeam Save is performed, many links are generated between the actualpart and the drawing that is saved in SmarTeam. However, according to the SDELifeCycle Rule Setup, when the part is checked out, the drawing is also checkedout, which may not be necessary. The documentation explains how to avoid savingthis link in SmarTeam.

• Open for Edit - The Open for Edit check box allows you open a document forediting. When this check box is marked, the check out or new release lifecycleoperation is invoked and the corresponding lifecycle window appears. Afterchecking out/releasing the document, it is opened in CATIA. Note that this checkbox is only available for checked in or released documents. If the check out/newrelease operation fails or is cancelled, the document will not be opened in CATIA.

Software requirements

SmarTeam - Multi-site provides the means to configure and work in an environmentwhere each vault has a parallel vault on all other sites.

Page 32: Management to enable excellent products ENOVIA SmarTeam V5.20

IBM United States Software Announcement210-012

For Vault Server system requirements, refer to Vault Server software in theSmarTeam - Foundation section.

Prerequisites

• A server named RepliWeb RDS (RDS 3.0), which is used to replicate files betweensites.

• A service named RepliWeb Drive Mapper (RDM), which complements the RDSserver. RDM is required only in cases where RDS is running under Win32environment, and the Vault directories reside on a computer other than the VaultServer machine.

Installations of these two programs are not included on the SmarTeam - Multi-siteCD. Code must be downloaded from the ENOVIA SmarTeam Web site accessiblethrough the IBM support site.

Dassault Systemes provides a free license of RDS if both of the following conditionsare in place:

• The platform is either Win32 or Linux.

• The host computers do not have more than two CPUs.

If RDM is required, and the conditions for a free license of RDS are met, an RDMlicense will also be provided free of charge by Dassault Systemes.

Each vault site requires an RDS installation.

RDS can be installed on Windows, Linux, or UNIX.

• In a Win32 environment, RDS should be installed on the Vault Server machine.

• If vault directories reside on Linux or UNIX, there are two possible RDS installationconfigurations:

– Recommended (for performance reasons) - RDS is installed directly on the Linuxand UNIX machine.

– Optional - RDS is installed on the Vault Server machine.

Full details on specific supported operating system platforms for RDS can be foundin the following link

http://www.repliweb.com/products/rds/index.php

Notes:

• Customers may choose to use a different file replication tool available in themarket.

• Storage configuration is highly dependent on backup and restore strategy, andperformance considerations.

Vault replication

Hardware requirements

• As specified for SmarTeam - Foundation V5.20.

• RepliWeb Deployment Suite (RDS) 3.0 does not require special hardwareconfiguration and can run on the SmarTeam Vault server or any other computerwith sufficient resources. Resource allocation for RepliWeb does not require adedicated or specialized computer.

• Disk space: 100 MB.

• Available 192 KB connection between sites (depending on database size andfrequency of updates). This parameter depends on the total data volume, numberof users, files, and intensity of communications.

Note: For hardware requirements of the SmarTeam Vault server, refer to theSmarTeam - Foundation requirements section.

Software requirements

SmarTeam - Multi-site provides the means to configure and work in an environmentwhere each vault has a parallel vault on all other sites. For Vault Serverrequirements, refer to the SmarTeam - Foundation Vault Server documentation.

Prerequisites

Microsoft Distributed File System (DFSTM) on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 orMicrosoft Windows Server 2008 or RepliWeb RDS 3.0 or R1.

• Distributed File System - In order to activate a working DFS Replication systembetween Vault sites:

– All storage machines must run on Windows server 2003 R2 operating system.

– The network topology must have an active directory and a domain controller.

– All storage machines on all sites must be in the same forest. You cannot enablereplication across servers in different forests.

– The vaults must be located on NTFS volumes. They cannot be mapped to thestorage machines by NFS. This means that files cannot be located on specialstorage solutions. UNIX machines are also not supported.

Note: Clusters are not supported. In a cluster, the Vaults must be located ona local node, and not as a shared resource. The DFS Service is not clusteraware, and will not fail over to another node. Locating the Vaults on a local nodeprevents SmarTeam from working properly in a case of fail over.

• RDS

– A server named RDS (which contains the installation of either RDS 3.0 or R1),which is used to replicate files between sites.

– A service named RepliWeb Drive Mapper (RDM), which complements the RDSserver. RDM is required only in cases in which RDS runs under the Win32environment and the Vault directories reside on a computer other than the VaultServer machine.

Installations of these two programs are not included on the SmarTeam - Multi-siteCD.

Dassault Systemes provides a free license for RDS if both the following conditionsare fulfilled:

• The platform is either Win32 or Linux.

• The host computers do not have more than two CPUs.

Page 34: Management to enable excellent products ENOVIA SmarTeam V5.20

IBM United States Software Announcement210-012

If RDM is required, and the conditions for a free license of RDS are met, an RDMlicense will also be provided free of charge by Dassault Systemes.

Each vault site requires an RDS installation. RDS can be installed on Windows,Linux, or UNIX.

The RepliWeb Deployment Suite (RDS) 2.6 code can be downloaded from the IBMTechnical Support Web site at

ENOVIA SmarTeam adheres to the CATIA V5 license management model (exceptionsare noted).

The license management model

The CATIA license management model is referenced here for two reasons. First, because it applies to the CATIA integration product. Secondly, this model is the basisfor SmarTeam's use of LUM. Wherever SmarTeam varies from the CATIA model, usually for architectural reasons, the exception is stated.

CATIA V5 license management model CATIA controls the number of concurrentusers of a CATIA configuration or product, according to the number of license keysacquired for the configuration or product.

CATIA V5 delivers identical license management mechanisms on UNIX and Windowsenvironments, based on IBM License Use Management (LUM). (ENOVIA SmarTeamis Windows only.) The following license management principles apply:

• A CATIA V5 configuration (standard or custom) will require a license key. (InENOVIA SmarTeam, configurations are implemented with separate Product licensekeys.) License keys for CATIA V5 configurations are acquired and released forthe total configuration. The products within a configuration cannot be shared. (InENOVIA SmarTeam, this rule may not be strictly enforced. However, it should beadhered to, as it may be enforced in future releases.)

• Each CATIA V5 shareable product will require a license key, in addition to one forthe prerequisite configuration and any prerequisite product, if applicable.

• In all cases, CATIA configuration license keys are acquired at the beginning of theprocess and are released at its termination.

• CATIA V5 add-on (AOP) and shareable products may require license keys forprerequisite products that are not already included in a standard configuration.Prerequisites for shareable products can be satisfied by a standard configuration,by an AOP within a custom configuration, or by a shareable product. However, because all AOPs are defined within one custom license key, any AOP prerequisitesmust be satisfied by either a standard configuration or by other AOPs purchasedand defined within the same custom configuration. (Due to the mentionedexception, this rule does not apply in ENOVIA SmarTeam. However, it should beadhered to, as it may be enforced in future releases.)

CATIA V5 can be used in three license management modes: nodelock, withconcurrent usage of license keys on a network, or concurrent offline licensemanagement. (ENOVIA SmarTeam does not support concurrent offline licensemanagement.)

Nodelock usage: The use of a local display is mandatory for CATIA V5 usage innodelock mode. There is no limit to the number of CATIA V5 processes launched fora given license key (configuration or product). For instance, a user can launch thefollowing simultaneous processes:

• A V5 interactive session

• A V5 process executed through an OLE container application

• Replay of macros recorded from captured sequences of V5 user interactions

Page 46: Management to enable excellent products ENOVIA SmarTeam V5.20

IBM United States Software Announcement210-012

IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 46

In the nodelock mode of operation, only one CATIA license key per configurationand shareable product can be registered per machine, and only one CATIA usercan run at a time on that machine. If multiple license keys per configuration orshareable product, or multiple users on a single machine, are required, refer to theConcurrent usage section below.

Concurrent usage: A user on one machine on one display uses one license key perconfiguration or shareable product used, regardless of the number of processes. Ifthe display changes, then an additional license key is taken for the correspondingprocess.

Dynamic license management: (Does not apply to ENOVIA SmarTeam - dynamiclicense management is not supported in ENOVIA SmarTeam.) CATIA shareableproduct license keys can be acquired and released during the session. (The abilityto acquire and release licenses is not available for configurations.) Shareable licensekeys acquired at the beginning of the session cannot be released before the end ofthe session; only license keys dynamically granted upon user request during thesession can be released during the session.

It gives CATIA, ENOVIA DMU, DELMIA, and RADE applications running on a Windowslaptop the ability to disconnect from the license key server for a specific period oftime. During the checkout period, the server license key is unavailable for use byanother concurrent user. This feature is designed to add additional flexibility to auser's work environment. It is offered to accommodate short-term travel needs andcollaboration while away from a fixed office environment or server connection. AllICA terms and conditions, including cross-border licensing terms, are unchanged, and users will check-out and check-in license keys at their home server, where rulesand procedures are controlled by LUM.

Note to users of the following ENOVIA SmarTeam-branded CATIAintegration products:

• SmarTeam - CATIA Team PDM Configuration (TDM)

• SmarTeam - CATIA Team PDM Engineering Configuration (TDE)

• SmarTeam - CATIA Web Team PDM Configuration (TDW)

• SmarTeam - CATIA Web Team PDM Engineering Configuration (TWE)

• SmarTeam - CATIA Integration Product (CAI)

• SmarTeam - CATIA Web Integration Product (CWI)

These ENOVIA SmarTeam products do not support dynamic or concurrent offlinelicense management. Licenses for these products are acquired dynamically when thefunction is invoked from CATIA and may not be released until the CATIA session isended.

Preventive Service is delivered through the next release of ENOVIA SmarTeam V5products. The new release also includes corrections to problems, depending on thetime of their submission and their severity.

During the Program Services period, Corrective Service for ENOVIA SmarTeamV5 releases is delivered through service packs on a regular basis. A service packincludes corrections for Blocking problems in production systems reported onthis release and all corrections available for all components at the time it is built.Service packs are provided at the same time for all platforms currently supported. Each service pack supersedes the previous one and may be installed on top ofthe released level or on top of a previous service pack. The exception is WLSproducts where corrective service is provided in the next release of the product. Nomaintenance for WLS products is provided in the service packs.

Customers may request a correction via a service pack for Blocking Problems. ABlocking Problem is defined as:

• A problem that stops production: The customer is currently using the level forwhich a fix is requested in a production environment.

• A problem that prevents migration: The customer must provide the migrationplan.

• A problem that halts testing of a given level: A fix will allow customer to continuethe testing.

• Installation problem: A problem that prevents the customer from installing orusing the product.

• Regression: Problems reported as regressions may be due to an operation thatwas being performed erroneously or created incorrect data with a previous releaseand the current release no longer permits these operations. Therefore, each

Page 48: Management to enable excellent products ENOVIA SmarTeam V5.20

IBM United States Software Announcement210-012

problem reported as a regression must be evaluated. True regressions will behandled as Severity 1 problems.

In general, CATIA and ENOVIA SmarTeam are not required to be running at thesame release and service pack level; they can be plus or minus two releases. However, there are specific service pack levels for each release that have beentested and are recommended/supported. The compatibility chart for Windows canbe found on the PLM Technical Support Web site by searching with the keywords "V5CATIA SmarTeam compatibility."

In order to download the AutoVue (Cimmetry) code, visit

Note: Customers experiencing problems with DB2 V9.5 delivered with the ENOVIASmarTeam V5 product may report these problems through PLM product support, aslong as DB2 is being used in conjunction with ENOVIA SmarTeam and both the DB2and ENOVIA SmarTeam products are still within their respective support periods.Customers will receive the same level of support as they are entitled to for theirENOVIA SmarTeam products.

Customers experiencing problems with IBM License Use Management (LUM)products when used with ENOVIA SmarTeam V5 products may report theseproblems through PLM product support. Note this only applies when the LUM productis being used in conjunction with an ENOVIA SmarTeam V5 product and the ENOVIASmarTeam product is within its support period. LUM products are not included in theenhanced support offering; LUM problems will receive the Program Services levelof support and must be submitted via the Problem Reporting process at the PLMTechnical Support Web site at

http://www.ibm.com/software/applications/plm/support/

Program Services will be provided for this release of ENOVIA SmarTeam V5products (V5.20) until October 19, 2012. After that date, should it be necessary forcustomers who are up-to-date on their Annual License Charge (ALC) payments toextend support, a support extension will be available for an additional fee.

This extension is for one year only, with no possibility of renewal, and will be limitedto support of critical situations found in production running on an announced, supported environment and subject to the availability and maintainability ofoperating systems, databases, middleware, and hardware (clients and servers) atthe time the critical situation is reported. Critical situation means a Severity 1 defectthat is blocking production and has no workable alternative to unblock production.

In order to ensure uninterrupted support, support extension requests shouldbe submitted at least six months prior to the end of support date through thecustomer's marketing team or Business Partner.

This extension of support will not constitute an alternative to the customer'smigration to the latest release or version of the installed products and therefore thecustomer is obligated to have a documented and viable migration plan to the latestrelease or version in order to obtain an extension of support.
