Management Committee Summary 2
Actions/Effort at CERN/Operational Tasks/Cost Sharing
• Actions– Many achieved (OTSMOU, Monitoring PCs, Lists: mail and author, Lab Move)– Still need to sort of air-conditioning for Test Lab (Bruce?)
• Effort at CERN– Some dedicated CERN residents need to start moving over to physics– Nevertheless no immediate problem, and more students/RAs expected– Need to be more efficient about sharing out Point 1 tasks
• Operational tasks and shifts– Recent change from category I/II to class 1-3– Class 1 are ACR shifts
• This move will increase pressure on institutes to fill their quota
• Cost sharing and new expenditures– Very little recent expenditure– Backplane Tester needs may require Upgrade cost-sharing exercise to start

Management Committee Summary 3
ZDC/Management Roles/Papers + Conferences
• ZDC (mostly) working and paid for– But they need more PPMs eventually
• Management Roles– Martin takes over from Rainer on calibration
• Thanks to Rainer, and good luck in the e/gamma group
– Still need new Documentation chief
• Paper, Conferences– Taylor already gone to CALOR2010, David going to IEEE-RealTime
• Approval process is ‘bedding-in’: still rather heavy
– Three abstracts submitted to TWEPP– Any other plans/suggestions?– Little (no) progress on PPM and Digital backup papers
• Set a deadline of end of May for new draft to be circulated

Upgrade
• As always, difficult to summarize– Though Sam made a brave attempt yesterday
• Previous discussion of Phase I ‘partitioning’ now probably redundant!– Now even more doubt about what we actually need to do
• MSU is starting to discuss funding for CMM++ development– Agreement that this is a good development– The process of ATLAS approval might take some effort!
• Reminder: next TDAQ week has much Upgrade Discussion

Reminder of Mailing Lists
• Simplification in January– All mailing lists maintained at CERN– Merge some related lists (software, calibration, cern)– New naming convention (via aliases)
• [email protected]• [email protected]• [email protected]
• Notes on usage:– l1calo-all is ‘private’ to L1Calo– operation and upgrade include non-L1Calo members
• We haven’t yet seriously tried to use, eg:– Sharepoint– Savannah

– CERN, week of 13th – 17th September• Will have an ‘Upgrade’ flavour• May try to combine with a larger Level-1 Upgrade meeting
– Spring 2011: QMUL or Cambridge– Summer 2011: Stockholm
