Making Slideshows with iMovie (then Creating a DVD)using only still Photos

1. Collect the pictures you want to use (from a file folder or iPhoto Events) --make’em pretty with Photoshop, or later in iPhoto
2. Put them into a new iPhoto Album (name it)
3. Open a new iMovie Project, and a New Event in iMovie (name them)
4. Import the pictures into iMovie, from the iPhoto Album
5. Choose the timing, transitions, and music for the slideshow
6. Convert it to a DVD

Events in iPhoto
(each event has many photos)
You can drag Events into Albums
Pictures in a Folder
Full Screen Mode (Esc to go back)

Create a New Albumname it
“Teton Glacier”
2. Put them into a new iPhoto Album (name it)
Drag the Teton Glacier PictureFolder into this space

2. Put them into a new iPhoto Album (name it)
Delete, add, and rearrange photoson this screen

3. Open a new iMovie Project, and a New Event in iMovie (name them)

3. Open a new iMovie Project, and a New Event in iMovie (name them)
Name it Teton Glacier

Drag pictures into workspace(add movies here too)
Click on camera symbol to see (and drag) photos in your iPhoto Albums and Events
4. Import the pictures into iMovie, from the iPhoto Album

Click on a picture to view it here
Drag pictures from lower right panel
to upper left panel (workspace)
To highlight all pictures, click on the first one, then
hold down the shift key and click on the last one
Pull down list of iPhoto entries
4. Import the pictures into iMovie, from the iPhoto Album

5. Choose the timing, transitions, and music for the slideshow
Transition ½ sec, Photos 6 sec, choose Ken Burns effect, and Fit in Frame.All can be adjusted on individual photos in the workspace.

The Ken Burns Effect(Gives a sense of motion to stills)
Click on a photo, click on down arrow next to gear, make Ken Burns choice
Adjust start (green) and end (red) areas

Adjust Timing
Click on a photo, click on down arrow next to gear, make Clip Adjustments choice
Also use the Inspector button to adjust clip
Adjust Duration
Change Transition

Add Music
Click on Music
Drag to workspace
If entire area lights up in green, undo it. Make sure you get the bar underneath
You can drag the music bar forward and backwards from the ends

Add More sound
Choose another category (than iTunes)

Type words over default words
Titles can extend any duration – grab and move, or extend/shorten from ends

6. Convert it to a DVD
Export it to a Folder(Makes a 1080p Quicktime movie)

6. Convert it to a DVD
Open iDVD – choose OneStepDVD from Movie
Select Teton Glacier.mov

6. Convert it to a DVD
For multiple DVD’s, it asks if you want another one after the first one is ejected
Insert DVD, Burn
