Our MissionThe Career Center at Lancaster High School is proud to offer valuable tools and opportunities

What We TeachWORKPLACE COMPETENCIESEffective workers can productively use: Resources - They know how to allocate time, money, materials, space,
and staff. Interpersonal Skills - They learn how to work on teams, teaching
others, serve customers, lead, negotiate and work well with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Information - They can acquire and evaluate data, organize and maintain files, interpret and communicate, and use computers to process information.

Economic Development Statistics“After discussing the needs of our existing
industry, it is apparent that we need basic soft skills training for our students along with filling out applications, simple math, reading and comprehension skills. We have several companies that are in need of welders, CNC machinists, shop managers and quality control tech. On my last survey, one existing industry stated that they could put 135 welders to work immediately, if they could actually weld.” - Elaine McKinney, LCEDC

Comments from core LHS Teacher Observations Students working independently-making real work objects. Students are getting college-ready. Students were using reasoning and analysis/incorporating math. I could definitely collaborate with this class. Teacher was very excited about subject. Happy to hear science integrated in the class. There were actively engaged students. Lots of Chemistry! It’s amazing to see all that is available to our students. Best use of technology I’ve seen. Many of our students would be lost without these classes. I had no idea you all did so much. I had no idea the level of complexity of what they are learning. They
are learning things as sophomores in high school that thirty years ago we learned as sophomores and even juniors in college.
