WHAT ARE THEY?• European mounts are a deer head boiled so that there is just the skull and antlers left.

HOW TO START• To start you cut the hide off the head. Then you find a big bucket or something that won’t

melt from heat. You fill up the bucket with water and put it over a heat source so it will start boiling. Then you put the head in.

BOILING• The water has to be at or above 212 degrees. Let the skull boil for about an hour and a

half. Then take the skull out. If a skull is in too long it will get weak and crack.

PRESSURE WASHING • You need to pressure wash skulls to get out extra cartilage and brains. If you don’t take

that off it will rot.

WHITENING • After being pressure washed the skull isn’t clean white. To make it white you take a brush

and cover the skull in a paste made from powder hydrogen peroxide and liquid hydrogen peroxide. You have to be very careful because will burn your skin. After it is covered with the paste you wrap it in plastic wrap. After that it will need to sit for a few days.

THE FINISHED SKULL• The last step is to take a piece of wire and bend it in half and twist it a few times. Then

put it in a hole in the back of the skull and finally you can hang it on the wall.
