    this conf&sing endea+or. ,n my short lifetime- , ha+e changed my mind on 'hat , 'ant to do N

    amo&nt of times. , 'anted to !e a rincess at fo&r- an astrona&t at se+en- a teacher at ten- a

    medical doctor at fo&rteen- and no'- as a o'ard /ni+ersity st&dent at eighteen- , 'ant to !e a

    n&rse and am maoring in n&rsing. A n&rse corresonds to doctors and atients ali#e and is

    re&ired to do more tal#ing than they are 'riting. ,n this sense- the enhancement of +er!al

    comm&nicational s#ills are referred still- ho'e+er- all st&dents sho&ld !e re&ired to ta#e a

    'riting co&rse- secifically in college.

    3riting is a necessary s#ill !eca&se it hels lay the fo&ndation for many other s#ills- s&ch

    as rhetoric- comrehension- and +oca!&lary. Altho&gh these s#ills are learned either thro&gh the

    instr&ction of another- the reading of tet- and5or &st the a+erage day(to(day eeriences- 'riting

    hels to reinforce and a&gment these s#ills. Since the 'riter m&st form&late their o'n 'riting 6of 

    co&rse- no lagiari7ing9- they m&st !e a!le to aly these learned s#ills on their o'n.

    A 'riting co&rse- esecially in college- can 6and sho&ld9 !e a good so&rce of eos&re to

    the st&dent. St&dents need to !e 'ell(ro&nded and #no'ledgea!le a!o&t contemorary iss&es in

    order to !etter reare themsel+es for the 'orld !eyond the &ni+ersity. ,n order to achie+e this-

    more often than not- st&dents m&st !e forced o&t of their comfort 7ones and eerience these

    iss&es themsel+es thro&gh tele+ision ne's- ne's articles- and other modes of :#eeing & to

    date.; ,n 'riting co&rses- these iss&es are &s&ally disc&ssedEAS%9 a !asic fo&ndation of an array of comm&nicational s#ills that

    are necessary for s&ccess in the st&dents* resecti+e careers. =or eamle- as a sales

    reresentati+e at a car dealershi- there is not a great deal of 'riting that one m&st do. o'e+er-

    a reresentati+e sho&ld !e !etter at the art of ers&asion than the a+erage erson. 3riting hels

    ?ased on my o'n eeriences- 'riting- al!eit adding to my 'or#load- resents no

    negati+e conse&ences to my academic a!ilities. )n the contrary- it has heled me to !ecome

     !etter at reading- sea#ing- &nderstanding- and 6o!+io&sly9 'riting. ,n simle 'ords- a 'riting

    co&rse is !eneficial and is in no 'ay detrimental to a st&dent*s s&ccess and sho&ld !e a

    re&irement- regardless of their maor.
