MAKING A SPIRITUAL

INVENTORY

Month of January was named after the Roman god Janus, a gate god with two faces.

What does it mean to take spiritual inventory?

It means sitting down and taking a serious look at our strengths and weakness… and then planning a course of action to correct that which is lacking and a strengthening of that which is good.

QUESTIONS THAT WILL HELP US EVALUATE OURSELVES OBJECTIVELY;

1. ARE WE SERVING OTHER GODS?


You shall have no other gods before Me.



2. ARE WE FOLLOWING THE DESIGNS OF GOD?


You shall not make for yourself a carved image of any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;


5you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.




3. ARE WE TAKING HIS NAME LIGHTLY?


You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.





4. ARE WE GIVING PRIORITY TO FELLOWSHIP?


Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,


10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates.


11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.


5. ARE WE HONORING OUR PARENTS?


Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.



6. ARE WE MURDERING SOMEBODY?


You shall not murder. Matt 5 :21You have heard

that it was said to those of old, You shall not murder and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment. 22But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment.




7. ARE WE COMMITTING ADULTERY?


You shall not commit adultery.


Matt 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.


Jas 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.


8. ARE WE ROBBING SOMEBODY?


You shall not steal.



9. ARE WE SPREADING LIES AGAINST A BROTHER?


You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
