STEPS OF INVESTIGATION PART 1

First we got a hose and pointed it in the right weather conditions for a rainbow- the sun behind us and water in the air.

Next we sprayed it and we tried to see it. We did!

STEPS OF INVESTIGATION PART 2

Our second experiment was to show an example of a prism.

We got a light prism. We shone a flashlight through the

prism. When we put it at a certain angle we

saw a rainbow! This picture shows how a light prism makes a rainbow

RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS PART 1 When water droplets are in the air and the sun is on

your back you will probably see a rainbow. That is because water bends white light into a rainbow.

When you point a prism in the right way you can see a rainbow.

The order of the rainbow is because of the wave lengths. Red is the least bent and Purple is the most bent .When you see a rainbow, what color is almost straight? The graph below explains the order

of a rainbow.

RELATED TOPICS PART 1

Sir Isaac Newton was a philosopher, astronomer, and a mathematician. He invented the reflecting telescope. His works were a scientific revolution. He was one of the first people to pass a beam of white light through a prism, making a rainbow.

RELATED TOPICS PART 2

Why Is Red Called Red? We figured this out. The ancient Aztecs had a god called Red. They sacrificed animals to Red and of course their blood was red! So the Aztecs called the color red!

INTERESTING DETAILS

Why did Irish people think there was a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? They didn’t. It was misunderstood. A rainbow is all the way round. The Irish understood this. So there was a saying that one was as likely to find a pot of gold as to find the end of a rainbow. These two were mixed up and tada! You have the myth!!

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT GOD IN OUR STUDY

1. God can make beauty in a blink of an eye.

2. God made us a promise by making a rainbow.

3. God is very smart and knows everything about anything.

4. The study of rainbows has opened our eyes to the beauty that God can make.

THE END!

Remember to thank God for making rainbows so we can see them. Thank you, and remember that God made a promise with a rainbow.
