MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Quarterly Report 2015 Q4 Caroline Homan, 4-H Youth Development Agent
The Extension team, Caroline, Julianne, and Christina, worked hard to promote 4-H and
recruit new families to join the 4-H fun in LaMoure County .
We held 4-H Open Houses in Edgeley, Kulm, and LaMoure to introduce new
families to the county 4-H program.
Our recruiting efforts resulted in 15 new families joining our 4-H program.
That’s a grand total of 28 new members from 6 different communities!
Caroline led the 4-H National Youth Science Day Experiment: Motion Com-
motion with students at Edgeley, LaMoure and Marion schools.
Each participating school received science kits to use with future classes. Kits
were also provided to families who home school.
NATIONAL 4-H WEEK: October 4-10
Caroline brought a new program to LaMoure County schools. On The Move to Better Health Jr. is a 5-
week curriculum developed to increase student knowledge of healthful foods and encourages kids to
get 60 minutes of physical activity each day.
Delivered to second graders at Kulm, Edgeley and LaMoure Schools
Weekly newsletters went home to parents/caregivers
Students charted their intake of the 5 food groups and received incentives for participating
Each week the students welcomed Caroline with enthusiasm and eagerly shared about the
healthy choices they were making and the new foods they tried that week
SCHOOL ENRICHMENT
The Extension Team held the 4-H Awards program on October 30th.
Caroline worked with 4-H Ambassadors who served as Master
of Ceremonies. The Ambassadors put together a slide show of
the 4-H Year in Review and shared their experiences about
different 4-H camps they attended. They encouraged younger
4-H’ers to participate in camps in the coming 4-H year.
Each new member received a 4-H t-shirt welcoming them into
the program.
Linda Wagner and Karen Sandness were recognized for their
years of service to the 4-H program.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Caroline is working with volunteers to transition 4-H Shooting Sports
activities from a special interest club into a chartered 4-H Club. She held
an informational meeting on November 21st to educate parents on the
benefits and requirements of chartering a 4-H club. She assessed inter-
est for pursuing this endeavor with the hopes of broadening the scope
of the shooting sports program in 2016 to include shotgun.
4-H SHOOTING SPORTS
