A headline Maker: Philip K. Dick AndroidScience-fiction writer Philip K. Dick died in 1982 - but that won’tstop him coming to Life! Built by Hanson Robotics, using the latest artificial intelligence technology, this android is at the cuttingedge of robotic technology. ‘Philip’ comes complete with hair,teeth and wrinkles. He can raise an eyebrow, smile and engage in conversation. This is one of the most advanced cognitiveartificial intelligence projects in the world - and ‘Philip’ knows it!

Opening times and prices

We recommend that you buy tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. Family tickets are for 2 adultsand 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children (under 2s come free). Only a limited number of weekend ticketsare available. Life Annual Pass holders are eligible to a 10% discount on tickets. Buy online atMakerFaireUK.com, from Life Science Centre reception or call (0191) 243 8223 (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm).

As there’s so much going on at Maker Faire UK, Life Science Centre won’t be offering its usual programme.There will also be changes to our usual café menus and the packed lunch area will not be available.

This event may not be suitable for very young children - we’re expecting big crowds and many of thecraft activities will involve scissors, sharp implements and small components. You know your children best - all ages are welcome.
