WHO…… made these plans?
These plans are the result of feedback from our more than
5,000 member households via surveys, focus groups and usage
data from our various programs. They told us in no uncertain
terms that Countryside YMCA needed to change; we listened.
… do I contact with questions?
You can direct your questions, comments and concerns
to CEO Mike Carroll.

WHAT…… programs will be impacted?
We will eliminate adult and teen indoor soccer and lacrosse as these programs
are less utilized by members. We do not anticipate losing any other programs,
and in fact some programs may grow as they shift to new, larger spaces. For
example, there will be addition free weight space in the CSC, an additional
cardio studio, and a new Discovery Zone for kids (just to name a few!).
… can we expect?
See the New & Improved tab for renovation specific info. The Y will remain
open throughout the construction process, so check out our e-blasts,
Makeover Madness website (www.countrysideymca.org/MakeoverMadness)
and our Facebook and Twitter channels for more information.

WHERE…… will the changes be made?
We’re going to offer many new and improved features for members to enjoy.
Approximately 40% percent of the building will be renovated. A significant
portion of the facility will be painted internally, and some areas will get new
flooring or furniture. Check the New & Improved tab for details.
… will I park when the parking lots are undergoing updates?
The good news is that general parking will not be impacted during the
renovation. Handicap parking will be relocated while a new handicap lot is
constructed. A new Child Safe lot will also be constructed.

WHY…… now? In 1978, Countryside YMCA opened our doors to serve Warren County residents. Through the decades we have at times expanded our facility, but much of our 220,000-square-foot facility has remained relatively unchanged in the last 36 years. The time has come for a major upgrade.
… eliminate the soccer program? First and foremost, we are not eliminating the basic soccer skills training for children six and younger. The current Candy League program will be reimagined and relocated to other parts of our facility. We will, however, discontinue the adult and teen indoor soccer and lacrosse. Just 30% of current participants in these leagues are members. While we hate to disappoint anyone, our mission requires that we focus on the programs the majority of our members want and value most.

HOW…… much will it cost?
The project is estimated at $7.6 million, which will be paid for through a
tax-exempt bond from the Warren County Port Authority. Membership rates
will not be used to fund the renovation. Only 25% of membership dues are
directed to capital improvement projects like the renovation. The bond debt
will be paid for with capital and investment funding over the next 20 years,
and because it was already budgeted, does not present an additional
operating expense to the organization.
… will you keep members informed?
We’re adding a special Makeover Madness update to our monthly
e-blasts. We have a dedicated Makeover Madness website,
www.countrysideymca.org/MakeoverMadness. And you can refer them to our

RACQUETBALLWe’re cutting back, but racquetball is here to stay:
• We’re eliminating two of six racquetball courts due to
decreased demand. They’ll be repurposed for
youth activities.
• Members will still enjoy an
adequate number of
racquetball courts on which to
practice their backhand.
