All summer classes will be offered at Pemberton Township High School from July 8 – August 1, 2019. Breakfast and lunch will be served daily.
All classes run from 8:30am‐12:30pm
Students should sign up for school courses based on the grade they will be in for Sept 2019.
6‐8 Robotics July 8 – July 25 Join us as you learn to build and program a fully autonomous robot. Students will learn programming, basic electronics, and design and print 3‐D objects. Camp is targeted to upcoming 6th graders through 8th graders. Students who attended last summer's camp will have the opportunity to experience more advanced robotics. 6‐8 STEAM Camp July 8 – August 1 STEAM Summer Camp offers hands‐on, inquiry‐based activities in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math to incoming 6th‐8th grade students. Students will engage with real world problem solving in areas such as biotechnology, renewable, potential, & kinetic energies, and coding. Through collaboration, problem solving, creative thinking, and teamwork, they will create objects such as roller coasters, solar robots, wind turbines and mini‐farms. NOTE: Students will be transported from the high school to Helen A. Fort Middle School for STEAM Camp after breakfast and will be transported back to the high school for lunch and dismissal. 5‐12 Summer Band July 8 ‐ August 1 This course includes instruction on band instruments that culminates with a performance at the summer musical theater production. It’s the rising 5th grade student’s opportunity to get a jump start on learning their band instrument. It’s the rising middle school and high school student’s opportunity to play a band instrument for the first time, switch to learn a new instrument, or continue to play your instrument over the summer. Some instruments are provided, but renting a good quality instrument from a music store is the best scenario. The course also includes an introduction to piano and guitar. 4‐12 Summer Theater July 8 ‐ August 1 The Pemberton Township Schools’ Summer Theater Camp for grades 4‐12 allows students interested in the field of theater the opportunity to explore and improve skills in singing, acting, dancing, directing, and the technical aspects of theater, including sound, lighting, set construction, and costuming. There is simply something for everyone wanting to explore theater! At the conclusion of the four‐week course of study, students show off their newly honed talents by offering a theatrical performance free to the community.
4‐12 PTHS Baking Camp July 8 ‐ August 1 If your child loves to bake, wants to help you when you're in the kitchen and sees all the cake decorating shows on cable TV, this camp is perfect for them! Our main focus is to inspire your child's creativity and passion for their love of baking and the art of cake decorating including cookie baking, cupcake baking & decorating, and art of decorating with Fondant and Royal icing. This camp will allow your child to explore the vocational side of education and maybe discover a love for baking.
6‐8 Reading Rocks the Digital World July 8 ‐ August 1 Use the latest technology and apps to enhance your summer reading experience! How
would you like to build your own website? Create a group blog? Produce video to post on your site? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this program is for you! 6‐8 Twisted History July 8 ‐ August 1 Have you ever wondered what would have happened if Hitler won World War II? Students will have the opportunity to look at history from a different point of view. Through reading The Only Thing To Fear and researching World War II, students will create news broadcasts, documentaries, morning/variety shows, game show, late night TV skits, commercials, etc. using the iMovie app to depict what America would be like. As a final project, students will be able to research a topic of their choice and decide what the world would be like if. . . Abraham Lincoln was not assassinated, the South won the Civil War, Columbus had not landed in America, and many other topics. 6‐8 Math Mania July 8 ‐ August 1 Playing math games can reinforce basic computation skills, strengthen math concepts, and build confidence all while having tons of fun! Join us in this camp to learn a wide variety of math games and activities that will help your child with his or her specific math needs. 6‐8 AVID Camp by Invitation Only July 8‐ July 11, July 22‐25 & July 29‐August 1
AVID summer camp is a required 3 week camp designed to introduce the incoming 7th grade AVID students to the AVID program requirements. Students are introduced to some of the middle school AVID teachers and have an opportunity to collaborate with other new AVID students. AVID strategies such as binder setup, Cornell note taking, reading strategies, and team building will be incorporated into this experience. The Community Service requirement is also discussed during this week. The culmination of our camp experience is a trip to Island Beach State Park with the Pemberton High School AVID students and instructors for a fun day at the beach.
9‐12 AVID Camp by Invitation Only July 8‐ July 11, July 22‐25 & July 29‐August 1 AVID summer camp at PTHS is designed to bridge the gap between the students’ middle school experience and their transition into high school. Incoming AVID students as well as current AVID students are invited and encouraged to participate in this summer opportunity. During this 2 week experience, students are introduced to the high school AVID teachers and have an
opportunity to collaborate with the AVID upperclassmen. AVID strategies such as binder setup, Socratic seminars, quick‐writes, Cornell note taking, reading strategies, and team building will be incorporated into this experience. We also include gaming and creative activities to encourage cooperation among all the students. The culmination of our camp experience is a trip to Island Beach State Park with the Middle School AVID students and instructors for a fun day at the beach.
9th NJSLA Algebra I Prep by Invitation Only July 8 ‐ August 1
This course is required for those students who did not meet the proficiency level on the Algebra 1 NJSLA (formerly PARCC test) needed to satisfy the state testing graduation requirement for mathematics. The course reviews the Algebra 1 concepts needed for students to be successful on the Algebra 1 NJSLA. Students will also learn test‐taking strategies and complete sample practice problems to prepare them for the test. Students will be required to take the Algebra I NJSLA upon completion.
10‐12 PSAT/SAT Prep English July 8‐July 18 The PSAT/SAT Prep course is designed to help students prepare for the rigors of taking the PSAT and/or SAT tests offered by the College Board. The primary goal is to identify and implement test taking strategies using prerequisite knowledge to increase student performance.

11‐12 College Essay Writing July 8‐July 18 College applications usually contain one of three types of essay questions. Find out what
they are and learn the best strategies for answering them.
9–12 PTHS “One Book One School” Club July 8 ‐ August 1 Get involved in reading, discussing, and participating in entertaining activities based on
the novel chosen for the “One Book, One School” program. Participants in the program will even have the opportunity to plan school‐wide activities related to the novel for the 2019‐2020 school year.
9‐12 STEM Academy Orientation July 29‐ August 1
by Invitation Only Incoming Freshmen STEM Academy students engage in hands‐on exposure to all four areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Plan on some fun as you learn programming, design and print 3‐D objects, perform physics and chemistry lab experiments, and compete in hydrogen fuel cell car races.
9‐12 Medical Arts Academy Orientation July 8‐ July 11 by Invitation Only The Medical Arts Academy Summer Orientation highlights core components for students interested in medicine, healthcare, and fun facts about how the body works. Activities include a tour of the high school, demonstration of medical coursework, and interactive activities. Students will view video presentations of Medical Arts Academy class activities and off campus experiences at Deborah Heart and Lung Medical Center. Students will have an opportunity to explore opportunities offered in the Medical Arts Academy and discuss their academic goals. 9‐12 FAME Academy Orientation July 22‐ August 1 by Invitation Only Fine Arts Music Experience Academy at PTHS will be receiving a special invitation to participate in summer theater camp. The objective is for them to work closely with summer theater directors and explore more closely the opportunities in the performing and visual arts field. Summer Theater Camp is Summer Fun Camp! We hope to see you there!!

REGISTRATION
● The registration and medical forms must be completed and returned to the Guidance Office. (Medical forms are required because the summer nurse will not have access to regular school medical records.)
● Only applications with the proper signatures will be accepted.
● Class rosters will be made up on a first come, first served basis. Class size is limited
so register early! Applications for admission to Summer Enrichment are available in the Guidance Office. Register with your School Counselor during regular school hours. Due date is May 3, 2019. A written confirmation will be sent to you once all classes have been set. We will also call to confirm your child’s attendance in the program.
RESIDENTS and NON‐RESIDENTS Students who are attending any Pemberton Township School are eligible for participation in the summer school programs at no charge. Students outside of the district may apply to any course for a fee $300.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is provided for students who wish to attend summer enrichment. For students who drive their own vehicles, you will use the student parking lot at PTHS. At no time are students allowed to park in any reserved parking spot.
STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO LEAVE SCHOOL OR GO TO THEIR VEHICLES DURING BREAKS. Failure to comply with this regulation could result in dismissal from the summer enrichment program.
DISCIPLINE
Students are subject to all of the rules, regulations, and policies that govern students during the course of a regular school year.
Noncompliance with those rules will result in the student being dismissed from the program. NOTE: The schedule is subject to change. Courses may be added or deleted dependent on student enrollment and teacher availability. Room assignments are subject to change as dictated by the Summer Enrichment Principal.
Special education students will have their course assignments and room numbers mailed to them after they have met with their counselors.
