Refreshments will be served in the multi-purpose area at 7 p.m. with the program to follow at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. All men and women in the area are invited to attend. The fourth annual “Light Up the Magic” lighting of uptown Elwood is planned at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26. Join the Master Elf, Elves of Character, Snowflake Princess and Mayor Todd Jones from the balcony of the Elwood Opera House for the kick off of the Christmas season in Elwood as they “flip the switch” to”Light Up the Magic.” At 7 p.m. the fifth annual “Bring Back the Magic” Christmas Parade will begin in the vicinity of Willkie Park on North Anderson Street. The parade will travel south on Anderson Street through the uptown area and turn left onto South B Street where it will end at the Municipal Building. A spe- cial someone will arrive at the end of the parade. There is still room for entries for the parade. For more information call Christy Clark at the Municipal Building. parade runs for a whole day with bands, dancers and peo- ple in fancy dress. There are two homes for Santa Claus in the United States one is in Tirrington, Connecticut, where Santa and his helpers give out pres- ents. The other home is in Wilmington, New York, where a village for Santa and his reindeer is located. In Arizona they follow the Mexican traditions called Las Posadas. Families play out the parts of Mary and Joseph searching for somewhere to stay. They form a procession and visit their friends' and neighbors' homes where they admire each family's Nativity crib. In parts of New Mexico, people place lighted candles in paper bags filled with sand on streets and rooftops to light the way for the Christ Child. Families are invited to view the art presented by local artists from 3 to 6 p.m. From 6 to 9 p.m. adults 21 and over are invited. There will also be live entertainment.
