School of Cinematic Arts, University of Southern California Los Angeles, CA Higher EducationSquare footage: 137,000 (Phase one and two)Construction cost: $110 M ( Approximate)

The four story new building for School of Cinematic Arts houses the administration and the instructional area for students in the field of film, television and interactive media.

Visual Design and Construction Technology (VD+C) methodology was extensively used to deliver this project. Conceptual design was developed and modeled using Building Information Modeling technology. Use of BIM and Navisworks allowed the potential conflict to be detected between different traits at the construction document stage.

My role was to develop details from designer's sketches and CAD drawings in Revit and to incorporate them in the building model. Exterior columns, arches and decorative brackets are some examples of detail elements. In later phases, I worked with the consultants to gather and input information in the model.

Both phases of the School of Cinematic Arts building used ecologically friendly materials, systems, and methods and earned LEED Silver certification.

Aesthetically pleasing interior was achieved by intricate design and attention to energy efficiency at the same time.

I interpreted design intent and produced interior details which was used repeatedly throughout the building model. Examples of elements includes transom, columns, motif on beams, light fixtures and screening room details.
