All maritime hotel service personnel deployed through the company are provided with the opportunity to improve and enhance their capabilities and qualifications. Specific desk, engine, hotel service and culinary courses that may be required by the client will be developed by the Magsaysay Institute of Shipping (MIS), Magsaysay Training Center (MTC) and the Magsaysay Institute of Hospitality and Culinary Arts (MIHCA). Through MTC, we offer quality training to seafarers using the state of the art equip-ment and highly qualified Instructors and Trainers. The courses are all in accordance with the STCW ‘ 95 and IMO standards. In this we have invested in the latest bridge, tankers and communications simulation facilities and equipment to ensure the best training in all trainees. MAGSAYSAY INSTITUTE OF SHIPPING

MIS addresses the need for the high standard of training among young men and women of character who have interests in pursuing career in shipping as seafarers. The Institute is a four-hectare facility properly located 34 kilometers from Manila and can house 440 cadets. It is a self-contained campus with its own classroom, training facilities, dormitory, recreation facilities and mess hall.

The centerpiece program of MIS is the three-month Officers Candidate Course (OCC) program that prepares young graduates from maritime schools for careers as marine officers. Through the OCC program, cadets undergo a comprehensive

training and development in technical operations, communication skills, leadership abilities, character development and physical endurance. Training materials, equip-ment, lodgings, meals and uniforms are provided free of charge. Each company can participate in the OCC program and develop future officers.

Magsaysay is dedicated to providing you with maritime professionals that process skill levels and competencies that you would be happy with. All maritime professionals have been trained and certified according to STCW’95 and IMO standards. We have invested in state-of-the-art equipment and provide excellent facilities to ensure the readiness of our crew. We have also developed specialized safety training to ensure that our crew meet, if not exceed, current ISM standards.

MIHCA combines expert teaching staff, modern fa-cilities and equipment and world-class hospitality and culinary certificate courses and aims to serve as the first step for individuals in achiev-ing their dream of having a career in the hospitality, culi-nary arts, travel, and tourism industry locally or internation-ally.

Together with the acclaimed Johnson & Wales University, America’s Career University, we developed a curriculum that is designed to make our graduates job-ready after completing their course. The in-depth certificate courses and comprehensive short courses offered by MIHCA are designed to equip stu-dents with the skills needed to succeed in the hospitality and culinary industry.

Certificate in Front Office ServiceThe Certificate in Front Office Service fundamental course includes practical training in comprehensive communication, personality development, guest services, and basic handling of front office systems.

The simulated front office laboratory gives students an opportunity to interact with different clients ev-eryday, thus, helping develop a professional atti-tude and excellent customer orientation.

Certificate in Housekeeping ServiceGraduates of this course will be proficient in cab-in, room and public area maintenance and effi-cient in laundry and linen service. Individuals who aspire for higher positions may undergo our skill and management training through intermediate and advanced courses.

Certificate in Food and Beverage ServiceOur fundamental course focuses on the mastery of basic techniques in food and bar service and devel-oping superb customer service orientation.

Certificate in Culinary ArtsThe Certificate in Culinary Arts provides a solid foundation in culinary techniques, method and cui-sines. Intermediate and advanced courses in inter-national cuisines, menu planning and cost control will develop skills to become an executive chef.

Through an interactive and hands-on training in our modern kitchens, students will gain firsthand experi-ence in the basic and advanced food handling and preparation, sanitation, mise-en-place.

NOccupational CertificateThe Occupational Certificate program prepares students to become internation-ally certified hospitality professionals. This program will equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet and exceed industry standards in several countries around the world.

Occupational and Basic Language TrainingThe Occupational and Basic Language Training will help students to become masters of communication. Our courses under this program will prepare them to communicate with customers in diverse international environments.

Tourism Training Courses Our Tourism Training Courses at the Magsaysay Training Center are certified by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). MTC is the first and only IATA certified training center in the Philippines.

•Magsaysay Savings Program, which en-courages every crew and family to save a portion of their income for long term finan-cial goals. This voluntary program aims to ensure that everyone who works for Mag-saysay has a home, college-educated chil-dren and enough funds for a comfortable retirement.

•Educational Assistance Program, which of-fers educational stipends to deserving chil-dren or siblings of Magsaysay People.

•General Allottees Orientation, an orien-tation that welcomes new allottees (family members of Magsaysay People) into Mag-saysay. The orientation has speakers who talk about the Company, Principal, and Fleet profile as well as policies, benefits, details of allotment and deductions, and the services and programs that can be availed through the Family Center.

•Livelihood/Skills Training, programs for crew and allottees that are useful for a start-up business or viable alternative source of income.

•Parenting/Family Relationship Sessions, which aim at enriching husband-wife and parent-child relationships.

•Health Awareness Training, informative ses-sions pertaining to health and wellness of both Magsaysay People and their families.

•Magsaysay People and Family Day, con-ducting regularly either as company-wide or Principal (client) -specific events. Dancing, singing contests, parlor games, raffles, and other activities are organized to create a fun-filled day for vacationing workforce and their families.
