Merley Community Pre School

Here at Merley Community Pre-School we have had an exciting and very busy

Spring Term. We have been working with the children, exploring their interests

and fascinations alongside them. We visited Merley 1st School to see the newly

hatched chicks, this lead to drawings and paint-

ings of the birds, followed up with a project on the

life cycle of the frog from frogspawn to young

frog. Our summer pre-school and families outing

is to Farmer Palmer’s to visit the animals and

support the children’s learning and building on

their experiences this term so far.

We are already planning our pre-school activities

for the Autumn Term. We are starting with “All

About Me”, finding out about the children, their

families and pets. We will be nurturing and sup-

porting the children as they return from the summer holidays, encouraging

them and enabling them to become independent and creative thinkers.

The pre-school Committee has worked hard on a series of very successful

fundraising events. We would like to thank members of the Bournemouth North

Rotary Club for the highly enjoyable Petanque fundraising day and their support

of the pre-school. We would also like to thank friends, families and members of

the community for the kind donations of cuddly toys, jars and bottles for the

Donkey Derby held in May and Merley 1st Summer Sizzler.

We currently have spaces available in most sessions in September. If you would

like to find out more about Merley Community Pre-school, please contact us on

07876267984, 9.00am to 3.30pm week days.

You may be interested in our Mini Movers group which is held on Tuesdays from

1.30pm-3pm during term time. Children aged 0 to 4 and their parents are

welcome to join us for a session of singing and rhymes. Join us and make new

friends!

MERLEY COBHAM SPORTS YOUTH FOOTBALL CLUB

Over 400 players and their parents celebrated Merley Cobham Sports Youth Football

Club’s 2013/14 season at their annual presentation evening on the day the FA Cup

final on 17th May.

With 12 different teams from the newly formed Under 7s up to Under 18s it was a

busy evening at the Cobham Social club as all players received individual trophies.

Merley’s only silverware this season came via the successful Under 14 Girls team as

they did the double by winning the New Forest League and Cup.

Most of Merley’s older teams finished mid table in their respective Dorset and

Bournemouth leagues but the future looks promising with the newly formed and es-

tablished mini soccer teams who play non-competitive football having excellent sea-

sons.

Keith Chandler won the Manager of the Year with the Under 10s while Team of the

Year went to Merley’s Under 13s.

Outgoing Chairman and Secretary John and Jacqui Groves received a special presen-

tation for their combined 25 year service to Merley football.

At the club’s AGM new Chairman Martin Rendell and new club Secretary Gavin

Rusling were voted in as they lead the club into the club’s 25th year which looks to

be a very exciting season with a number of new teams either being created or join-

ing Merley. New teams for the 2014/15 season include two U12 Girls team, U13

Girls, U7 boys, U12 boys, U15 boys and the Mini kickers (School year’s Reception

and Year 1)

If you know of players looking for a new team amongst Merley’s 17 age groups
