I am going to a theater – the Magik Theatre - to see a show. The actors are live on stage. “Elephant & Piggie, We are in a Book” by Mo Willems is a book that I can read. The play is about this story.

We will park the car in the parking lot, then cross the street and walk on the sidewalk to the Magik Theatre. Someone may drop us off in front of the theatre. We will see construction as we walk.

I will walk up the steps from the sidewalk to the Magik Theatre lobby. There is a ramp I can walk up if I need it.

5

I will walk in the front doors and pick up my ticket from the box office before I will see the show. The box office has a counter with a person on the other side. We will tell the person behind the counter our name.

The theater usher is a friendly helper. I can ask the theater usher for help. The theater usher can help me find a seat. They will give me a program.

I will be careful when I walk up or down the stairs to get to my seat. I can hold onto the wall railing when I walk up or down the stairs.

In the middle lobby there are water fountains and the concession stand. I can bring a snack if I want.

An usher will help me find my seat. This is where I will sit for the show. Wheelchair access enters in this area from the outside. The exits are clearly marked.

I will always be sitting next to my family. I might have my family on one side of me and a person I don’t know on the other side of me. The aisles are wide with plenty of space to walk.

When I am sitting, sometimes a person will walk in front of me. If a person is in my way to see the show, I can quietly ask the person “Can you please move out of my way? Thank you.” The lights will be on during the show.

I will let my mom or dad know if I have to go to the bathroom. I can go to the bathroom any time I need to. The sound of the flushing toilet can be loud.

I will tell my mom or dad if I want some quiet time. I can leave the show and go to the quiet middle lobby. I can sit on the chairs or walk around the quiet lobby. There is a tv monitor where I can watch the show.

The show ends when the actors bow. If I like the show, I can clap when the show ends. Other people will clap. I can cover my ears if the clapping noise is too loud. People clap only for a short time then the clapping is over.

I have to walk in the aisle to leave the theater. All the people will leave the theater at the same time. The aisle will be crowded. I will walk slowly in the aisle. The actors will be in the front lobby after the show. I can take photos or get their autographs if I want to.
