PHOTOGRAPHY PLANNING (COVER)

PHOTOGRAPHY PLANNING (COVER)• Model:For the cover, I will be using my father as the model as he has the type of look I am wanting for my magazine. Conveniently, he is in a band and therefore he has the equipment needed for the shoot. • Location:During my audience research, it was mentioned that my interviewee liked location shoots more than he liked studio shoots therefore I am going to be doing my photo shoot in location where the band practices. • Lighting: As the shoot will be indoors, the lighting will be artificial.• Props:The props I will be using will be mainly instruments in the background to show the location. The model will be holding a guitar by his side and will be wearing jewellery that stays within the theme of rock.• Background:For the shoot, the background will be a practice room owned by the band and therefore will have the equipment needed for a band to play. This equipment will be in the background of the shoot creating a natural feel. • Clothing:The model will be wearing clothes similar to the ones in the image to the right. The clothing will mainly be black due to the genre and will only be a small amount of colour such as a denim jacket which is on top of a leather one. He will be wearing leather as this is associated with rock and will be fit the theme.

321 Perfect

The Maple Origins

Idiot

Thin Minty

Carved Rock

Fonts:For the coverline of my magazine, I chose the top font, 321 Perfect. I chose this font as during my audience research my interviewee said he preferred bold fonts to be on a rock magazine. I have decided to used the bottom font, Carved Rock for the other headlines and fonts as it is slightly easier to read and would still be suitable for the rock theme.

I decided against the other three fonts for the main titles as they all are slightly difficult to read if they are at a smaller font. I didn’t choose the font named Thin Minty as the text of rock magazine text is conventionally straight and clear and this font if slightly curved.

COLOUR SCHEMEI decided upon these particular colours because they fit the conventions of a typical music magazine. There is a contrast between the darkness of the black and the light of the yellow, this will create a visual distinction and therefore be easy for the view to read.Red can be found on many rock magazines because of the connotations of blood and rock and roll. Red is quite a bold colour and a colour that demands attention and therefore using this on the cover could be a selling point which is the same as using the yellow.

PHOTOGRAPHY PLANNING (CONTENTS)

Page 7: Magazine style

PHOTOGRAPHY PLANNING (CONTENTS)The photography on the contents page will be similar to the cover photography due to the fact I will be using the models on the cover on the contents page to create a link between the pages and to show the readers where to find the things featured on the cover.• Location:The location of the images I have planned to use on the contents page does not really matter as I will be cutting around the person and therefore the background wont be visible. • Lighting:The lighting of the two shots will be artificial as the images were taken indoors.• Props:The only prop I will be using in my photographs is a guitar which will be played by Ken Gage, this is to show the occupation of the model and to relate to the genre of the magazine.• Clothing:The only visible clothing present in the images is a vest top showing the sleeve tattoos of Ken Gage. The images I have planned to use are one of Ken Gage the person featured on my double page spread and one of the woman on the cover.

PHOTOGRAPHY PLANNING (DPS)The photography plan for my double page spread is to be a photograph where the singer is on stage. As he will be on stage, the photograph will be taken as if a member of the audience has taken the image and therefore will be a low camera angle.• Lighting:The lighting in the image will be artificial and will be from typical stage lights.• Props:As the image will be taken from a live performance, Ken Gage will have a guitar with him and there will possibly be a microphone stand in shot or other musical equipment.• Clothing:The clothing the singer will be wearing will be typical stage clothing and will probably be something like a vest top which shows his tattoos and therefore relates to the rock genre.
