1990s The 1990s were a decade of many diverse scenes in music. However,

they are perhaps best known for grunge, gangsta rap, R&B, teen pop; eurodance, electronic dance music, the renewed popularity of punk rock; and for being the decade that alternative rock became mainstream.

Female pop icons "Spice Girls" took the world by storm, becoming the most commercially successful British group since The Beatles. Their impact brings about a widespread scene of teen pop acts around the world such as Backstreet Boys, Hanson, N Sync, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera who come to prominence into the new millennium.

Reader Profile

Tina, 21, was born in the early 90s. She was brought up listening to the pop music from that decade. She went to numerous concerts with her parents and friends. The 90s influenced the way she is now. She is constantly on the internet and using her smartphone to find out about the current music. She believes that the music today is no where near as good as it was when she was younger. She stills listens to classics such as Spice Girls, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera even though they aren't around as much. She is looking forward to going to the reunion tours of those bands that have recently got back together so she can re-live the best years of her life.

Johnny, 26, was named after a famous country singer as his parents loved his music. He was brought up to the likes of Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash. He engages with country music 24/7, from the moment he wakes up ‘til the moment he falls asleep. His music reflects his fashion; constantly wearing checked shirts and jeans. He is also a keen guitar player as he aspires to write and play music, just like his role models write and play music they love.
