The New Yorker’s Culture Desk blog asked readers to submit, via Twitter, one word from the English language that they consider utterly useless and worthy of elimination from our lexicon. “Super-fluous adverbs took a beating: people unloaded on ‘literally’ and ‘actually’,” the site says of the results. “One woman challenged anyone to think of a case in which a deleted ‘actually’ changed the meaning of the sentence. But there’s rea-son and then there’s rhythm, and ‘actu-ally’ is actually useful as a useless dactyl. would eliminate hate. We checked. It would not. (Nor would ‘war.’).”

But there’s reason and then there’s rhythm,
and ‘actually’ is actually useful as a useless dac-tyl. Other entries were conceptual: a number of readers wondered if eliminating ‘hate’ would eliminate hate. We checked. It would not. (Nor would ‘war.’).”
After digging through thousands of suggestions for words that deserve to be shelved, the editors at The New Yorker came to a conclusion: “In the end, though, we zeroed in on a set of suggestions that sought to update the language of everyday fashion. It

These $10 bottles of nail polish have some-thing that many compa-nies do not; a fast dry-ing formula that dries in about five minutes, compared to about 20 minutes drying time for other nail polish com-panies.
“Being at college, I needed to get to class
fast, so the fast dry-ing formula is for girls on-the-go so you can get in and get out. It was made for college students,” Pierce said. The product is also free of formaldehyde, and toluene-free making it environmental friendly, Pierce said.
Pierce wanted to
be different when she created her brand and wanted to do something that many others were not. “I saw the need for more fashionable colors and I wanted to make a nail polish brand ver-sus clothes or shoes or other items. I wanted to make nail polish more of an accessory,” Pierce said.
“Ariana’s product is long-lasting . . . and keeps up with the latest couture trends. I use her products weekly and love them,” said Shanacee Shreve, 19, Michigan State Uni-versity Journalism sophomore, model, and customer of Superstar Nail Lacquer.
Pierce said, that in 2010, Superstar Nail Lacquer grossed about $500,000 in sales and the company plans to double that amount by the end of 2011. Su-perstar Nail Lacquer produces thousands of units per month, Pierce said, and it would take thousands more for the company to reach its goal of doubling.
Since Superstar Nail Lacquer is a fairly new brand with many other businesses and people taking note of the ac-tions of the brand, Pierce said, she cannot disclose certain infor-mation regarding exact profits and expenses, but the business is, “definitely profitable.”
