Masthead & Selling Line

The title is called "MixMag". This suggests hat the magazine includes a wide range of genres for its reader, which means that they can attract a larger audience. The colour white suggests that the magazine is for both genders as stereotypically, white is a neutral colour which appeals to everyone. Also it makes the title stand out against the orange background. They also animate the DJ Skrillex to give abit of humour to the magazine.

Main Image

On the main image, Skrillex is featured riding a US atom bomb, this suggests that Skrillex is an american Dub step artists and he has blew up all around the world and made Dub step big. At the time of this magazine was released, Skrillex has just been recognized by everyone around the world.

Cover Lines & Main Sells

Here they feature a range of Dj's names that are included in the magazine and New years party guide are told inside the magazine. The names of DJ's are made to stand out with a black background behind the font which suggests they are popular and the genre of them are club/party which will appeal to the target audience.

Comparisons

In order to find a different magazine to mixmag, I have picked Top of The Pops magazine as this magazine is aimed at the female gender, they have used a lot of (steroypically) femine colours like pink and purple. This magazine is aimed at young teenage girls unlike mixmag. The topics in this magazine is a lot different to mix mag too as this magazine talks about boy bands, catwalk photos, Cher Lloyd’s life story.

Ideas for your own magazine

I have different ideas for my magazine, I would like to base my magazine on Deep and Tech house, similar to mixmag but not as broad as mixmag, I mainly use neutral colours for my magazine but I will use bright colours for the main stories I would like to attract for my target audience. The name I would like to use for my magazine is 120, the reason I have picked that name is because deep and tech house is 120 bpm.
