The result: a majestic island lush with ferns and palms, fresh with the

scent of flowers and protected from the open ocean by its surrounding

atoll. Bora Bora’s turquoise-coloured inner lagoons provide shelter to

countless schools of tropical fish and other ocean life. The island is also

a gem of Polynesian culture, a place where the dancing, singing, culinary

and seafaring traditions of the Maohi people are woven into daily island life.

The most famous of French Polynesia’s Society

Islands, Bora Bora was formed by a volcanic

eruption four million years ago.

Bora Bora’s first settlers arrived around the

fourth century – 13 centuries before

European explorers. The original Maohi migrants

arrived in large pahi or outrigger canoes, travelling

distances far greater than any Western culture

had yet attempted.

The island became a protectorate of France

in 1842, and French remains the main common

language on the island, though English is widely

spoken, as well as the native Tahitian. During

World War II, the United States used Bora Bora

as a military supply base, and after the war some

military personnel were so taken with the island

they refused to leave.

Since the first international resort hotel opened

in 1961, Bora Bora has evolved into one of the

world’s top resort destinations.

lagoon sanctuary exPerienceDiscover our Ruahatu (“God of the Ocean”) Lagoon Sanctuary, alongside

Oliver Martin, our resident marine biologist. In our pristine lagoon, teeming

with colourful tropical fish, you will learn everything you have ever wanted

to know about the coral eco-system and its marine life. Play with an octopus,

feed puffers, spot flounders and lionfish, distinguish morays, touch anemones,

uncover mollusks, and learn how to graft undersea coral.

Oliver can re-create your company’s corporate logo in a shallow underwater

stand that will serve as the platform for new coral nubbin grafts. Participants

can come throughout their stay to learn how to graft coral themselves and

complete the logo with the assistance of our marine biology team. These new

coral nubbins will grow, attract local fish and wildlife, and serve to feed and

house thousands of marine creatures. Each guest will also receive a certificate

as the benefactor of their new coral nubbins. A group photo can be taken with

the completed corporate logo in full display. This is teambuilding, Polynesian-style!

Duration: 75 minutes, includes the adoption of two coral nubbins; 120 minutes

with the adoption of four coral nubbins. A special tour of the lagoon is also

available for non-swimmers.

striking architectural contrast to the curved edges of the pool. Next to the pool,

deep Sea fiShingAnnually, Bora Bora enjoys approximately

nine months (October through June) of excellent

sport fishing. According to the locals, the optimal

time for big fish and lots of action is from

December through May, when the water is at its

warmest. The Society Islands are one of the few

places in the world where you can catch Pacific

Blue Marlin year-round. Other types of game

fish include: mahi mahi, wahoo, skipjack tuna,

yellowfin tuna, trevally, jacks and barracuda.

Also found, but not as common: black marlin,

striped marlin, sailfish, shortbill spearfish and

big eye tuna. Board your boat with our local

fishing expert from the Resort, and choose

to do shallow water, deep sea, or bottom fishing,

depending upon the game fish desired.

The water conditions are generally mild.

Bring your catch back to the Resort, where our

Chef will be happy to expertly prepare for an

additional fee. Keep in mind it takes 24 hours

for the fish muscles to relax, and we recommend

you wait this time so you will enjoy the dish.

Weather & climate Bora Bora is a year-round tourist destination, with predictably tropical weather throughout the year.

Our temperatures average about 30 C° (86 °F), for both the air and water temperatures. We are

a tropical destination blessed with more annual days of sunshine than even Honolulu, Hawaii –

averaging 8 hours per day!

French Polynesia is in the same time zone as Hawaii and because we are located slightly below the

Equator, our seasons are very similar: warm and warmer! Water temperatures average 26 C° (79 °F)

in the winter and 29 C° (84 °F) during the summer, with less than a degree of variation from the surface

to a depth of 150 feet.

Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora enjoys sunny, warm days. Daily temperatures during our summer

season average 30 C° (86 °F) during the day and 24 C° (75 °F) in the evening. We are a tropical

destination so it can rain occasionally, but if this occurs it tends to be rare and brief, usually in

morning or late afternoon. We do not have an annual hurricane or cyclone season so our

picturesque, majestic location and warm, Polynesian culture ensure a great guest experience.

Winter seasonApril through October is sunny and warm with cool evening breezes, and boasting an average daily

temperature of 29 C° (84 F).

suMMer seasonNovember through March is sunny, warm and more humid, with occasional light showers and an

average daily temperature of 30 C° (86 F).
