4 Cases of Nouns

Nominative case Genitive case Accusative case

5 A noun preceded by a preposition is said to be in the genitive case (i.e the prepositions change the noun from nominative case to genitive case)

Possessive phrase

A possessive phrase has two parts. The first one is called the

and the second (a noun which is added to another noun) مظاف

one is called the مظاف الیہ (a noun to which the first noun is

added)

In English we use usually apostrophe to make possessive phrase

but in Arabic we make it by omitting the tanween of مظاف

and changing the مظاف الیہ from nominative case to genitive

case

If the noun which comes after the demonstrative pronoun اظم

is attached with definite article اشاسۃ then it is called in Arabic ال

and this construction is called the “ demonstrative املشاس الیہ

phrase”

املشکب إلاشاسي

In Arabic Demonstrative phrase املشکب إلاشاسي is not a complete

sentence. To make it complete we must add predicate with it.

Adjectival phrase

In Arabic the adjective is called the صفت/وػت and the noun it

qualifies is called املىػوت / املوصوف . This construction is called

the adjectival phrase املشکب الوصفي . In Arabic adjective comes

after the qualified noun.

In Arabic the adjective is in agreement with the qualified noun in the four matters i.e

1. Gender(masculine/feminine) 2. Number(singular/dual/plural) 3. Kind(definite/indefinite) 4. Case(nominative/genitive/accusative)

Sound plural/ الجمع السالم

The plural in which the singular retains its original form. Like in English boys, girls etc. and in

Arabic معلمون، معلمات. The sound

plural is divided into two parts. There are some special rules for making this type of plural.

Broken plural/ الجمع المکسر

The plural in which the original form of singular gets changed. Like in English men, women

and in Arabic سحال، وعاء . Broken

plural has lot of patterns but there is no any particular rule to make it.

Feminine sound plural/جمع المؤنث السالم

The plural in which we add ات

with its singular. Like in معلمۃ

،صالحۃ صالحات معلمات ، مإمىۃ مإمىات

Masculine Sound plural/ جمع المذکر السالم

The plural in which we add ون or

معلم with its singular like in ین

1 In Arabic counting is called غذد and the thing which is

counted is called مػذود

From 1-2 غذد is used as adjective and مػذود is its

qualified noun

From 3-10غذد is used as مظافandمػذود is used as مظاف

ئلیہ

From 3-10 if مػذود is a masculine thenغذد will be used as

feminine i.e. with” Taa tanees”. And vise versa i.e. if غذد is a

feminine then مػذود will be used as masculine i.e. without

“Taa tanees”. Like ،جلث طالباتجلجۃ طلب

Most of the nouns and adjectives have a “Tanween” at their end. But there are some cases of nouns and adjective which do not accept “Tanween” and in genitive case these nouns and adjectives accept “Fatha” in place of “Kasra”. These nouns and

adjectives are called ’’ألاظماء غیر مىصشفۃ‘‘ ( dip totes/the

indeclinable nouns) Some cases of indeclinable nouns are:-

Feminine proper nouns like ، خذیجۃ

غائشۃ

Masculine proper nouns ending with “Taa Tanees” like

، مػاوی حمضۃ

Proper nouns and adjectives ending with ‘ان‘ like سفیبن ،

غثمان ، غطشان

Nouns and adjectives on the pattern of verb as on أفعل

Pattern like أحمذ ، أکبر ، أظود

Non Arabic proper nouns like ئبشاھیم ، ئسحاق ، لىذن

There are two types of sentences in Arabic : Nominal sentence: Every sentence which begins with

noun. Like الکتاب حمیل

Verbal sentence: Every sentence which begins with

verb. Like رھب دمحم الی الذکان

The particle and it’s sisters are used at the ئن

beginning of nominal sentence which we call in Arabic

these are . ئن و أخواتھا ، لیت ، لػل ، أن ، کأن ، لک . ئن

ئن و أخواتھا.change the from nominative case to مبتذأ

accusative case and after the introduction of ئن ۔ مبتذأ is

called اظم ئن . and :Like خبر ئن is called خبر

الکتاب حمیل ۔ ئں الکتاب حمیل

حامذ مشیع۔ لػل حامذا مشیع

And in this chapter we have to learn only the particle

and ئن لػل so ئن means “ verily “ and “ is used for لػل

hope or fear “

The word یغ ل is used in nominal sentence and it usually

means “ is not “

After the introduction of یغ )the Subject ل مبتذأ ) is called the ( اظم

( خبر لیغ ) is usually attached with the preposition (بب) otherwise it

will be in accusative case ( مىصوب )

اشم التفضیل

In Arabic comparative and superlative degree of

adjective are on the pattern of ( عل فأ ) and this is same

for masculine, feminine and singular and plural. And

usually at the time of comparison it is followed by ( م )

like : غش م حامذ، الطلب اطول م البىات ، آمىۃ أصحامذ أطول م آمىۃ

In case of superlative degree it is followed by genitive

noun ( اظم مجشوس ) like: حامذ أطول طالب في الفصل

قواعد العدد واملعدود

The numbers from 11 to 19 are compound of two parts.

In 11 and 12 both parts of (غذد) are agree with the

، اثنب عشر طبلبب، اثنتب عشرۃ طبلبۃأحذ غشش طالبا، ئحذی غششۃ طالبۃ :like (مػذود)

From 13 to 19 the second part of (غذد) agrees with the

:while as the first part does not agree with it . like (مػذود)

ثالثۃ عشر طبلبب، ثالث عشرۃ طبلبۃ، تسعۃ عشر طبلبب، تسع عشرۃ طبلبۃ

From 11 to 19 both parts of (غذد) are considered as ( مبنی

(اجىان و اجيتان) except the two words (غلی الفتح

The numbers 20, 30…………. 90, are called ( غلود ).

These numbers are also same for masculine and

feminine. Like : ،غششون طالبا، غششون طالبۃ

The (مػذود) from 11 to 99 are always considered as

singular and in accusative case ( مفشد مىصوب )

أحزاء الجملۃ الفعلیۃ

The verbal sentence is made up of two parts, verb and Subject and sometimes object also. In verbal sentence

subject is called (فاغل) and the object is called (مفػول بہ)

The subject (فاغل) said to be in nominative case(مشفوع) and the

object in accusative case ( مىصوب ). Like: كتل الولذ الحیۃ

If subject comes after a verb and has a full noun(اظم ظاھش) then

the verb remains singular even if the subject will be singular,

dual or plural. Like : رھب الطالب ، رھب الطالبان، رھب الطلب
