Abstract

Postcolonialism is the theory that analyses the discourse of colonization.

It tends to reexamine the history of colonization from the perspective of

colonized.

Said’s most influential and arguable book “Orientalism” makes a very

influential statement on the nature of identity formation in the

postcolonial studies. It had a great impact on thought about the colonial

discourse.

Together with E.Said, Homi Bhabha and Gayatri Spivak make up what

Robert Young described “the holy trinity” of postcolonial critics. They

acknowledge Said’s book as their immediate inspiration.
