Made in the Shade Using non-timber forest products (NTFPs) to see more in Minnesota forests

Non-timber forest products, or NTFPs - most everything we find in and around the woods that is not timber.

These are the products of forest origin that enhance or contribute to our livelihoods and our lifestyles.

These products are an integral part of our common regional history and economy

We lack both an effective framework to identify this potential, and mechanisms for its capture.

Made in the Shade is a “whole-forest perspective” that emphasizes

•  Increased awareness of non-timber forest products and resources • Develop and exchange information, experiences, and traditions • Establish and promote a network for social and economic non-

timber resource users, land owners and managers, and entrepreneurs
