Biography Maddalena Del Gobbo was born in Italy and started studying music at a very early age. At the

age of four, she began learning the piano and gradually added the cello and singing to her

musical repertoire. Years later, at the age of 13, her musical talent brought her to Vienna, where

she studied the cello at the "Konservatorium Wien". She first came in contact with the viola da

gamba when she entered a record shop in the heart of Vienna and was mesmerized by an

enchanting sound she would never forget.

She still finished her studies as a cellist, received a MA and performed in many concert halls as

a soloist and chamber musician playing, among others, with members of the Vienna

Philharmonic Orchestra and at the Vienna State Opera. All this time, she never forgot the viol

and secretly honed her skills until, one day, she decided to make the viol her focal point and to

dedicate her life to baroque music.

Maddalena Del Gobbo already played in famous halls, like the Musikverein in Vienna and

festivals, as the "Innsbrucker Festwochen der alten Musik". She also played for BR-Klassik (U21)

and at the Yellow Lounge of Deutsche Grammophon.

Her debut album with Archiv Produktion "Viola d`Emozione" was released 2014, and 2016 she

recorded her second album, this time for Deutsche Grammophon, "Henriette - The Princess of

Viol".

Maddalena Del Gobbo plays a viola da gamba made in 1691 by Johann Seelos, a loan from

the Orpheon Foundation.

Biografie

Ihre zweite CD, "The Princess of Viol“, erschien im Herbst 2016 (Deutsche Grammophon).

Maddalena Del Gobbo spielt eine Viola da Gamba von Johann Seelos aus 1691, eine Leihgabe der Orpheon Foundation.
