What human rights issue do you see today?The issues I see, in my opinion are people not giving backto the communities enough. What would you do to support the cause of human rights?By giving back to the community, giving service hours in myspare time, like Im doing with the animal shelter. What are you doing for community service?Im helping at the animal shelter, helping dogs and cats toget adopted. How does your community service project support humanrights? By giving animals new homes and a new start. Theyhelp dogs/cats in the streets and thats helps thecommunity 3. What human rights issue do you see today?Racism is one of the human rights issues that I see today. What would you do to support the cause of human rights?I would personally communicate with different people that allhumans are equal and that nobody should be racist. What are you doing for community service?Light the Night Walk to support cancer patients.I was assigned to pass out the shirts that help fundraise for theircare and hospital bills. How does your community service project support humanrights?It supports human rights because it helps people who are inneed-financially or emotionally. It also helps people, which is agreat way to retain a better environment and atmosphere. 4. What human rights issue do you see today?Not enough people are giving back. What would you do to support the cause of humanrights?I like to spread the word about real world problems byholding fundraisers and offering volunteeropportunities. What are you doing for community service? Samaritans Purse: Operation Christmas Child. Volunteering at homeless shelters and at foodbanks. How does your community service project supporthuman rights?By giving the Christmas boxes to children and teenagersin foreign countries, we are letting them know that theydeserve the right to happiness. Going to food shelterslets people know that there are other people out therewho care about their well-being. Everyone deserves theright to be happy. 5. What human rights issue do you see today?One of the human rights issues I see today is the difficultyfor some people to express their faith or belief publiclywithout feeling chastised or rebuked. What would you do to support the cause of human rights?In order to support the cause of human rights, I expressfreedom of religion and freedom of speech. What are you doing for community service?I lead the worship team at my church by expressing faiththrough gospel music. How does your community service project support humanrights?My community service project supports freedom of religionand freedom of speech by allowing the public to expresstheir religious independence through the words expressed inthe music that we play. 6. MAD Event- Interview QuestionsKevin Torres What do human rights mean to you?Human rights to me is the chance and opportunity for everyoneto be equal regardless of race, ethnicity, and color. What human rights issue do you see today?Many people are not given the chance to be equal. There isracism all around us and crimes against certain races of people.People are held back from doing many things due to their social,economic or racial status. What would you do to support the cause of human rights?I support human rights by encouraging teenagers and youth inmy community to seek help from certain organizations to breakthrough their barriers and lead a happy, successful life in thefuture. What are you doing for community service?I am in a group called Youth Grant Makers for the CommunityFoundation and I grant money to certain non-profitorganizations that will help the youth in my community to get abetter education and develop better habits to lead a productivelife in the future. How does your community service project support human rights?We support human rights by allowing anyone-regardless ofcolor, race, religion, or beliefs to get help. We encourage theyouth to go to school, teach them skills to use in jobs andrehabilitate them from drugs and violence. We dont payattention to their background, and we give everyone a chance. 7. What human rights issue do you see today?I think one big issue we see today are the issue withISIS. What would you do to support the cause of humanrights?I would support to give people second chances and giveback. What are you doing for community service?First we volunteered at an event called Ed Camp foreducators in Riverside County. Second, we are going tovolunteer at a senior center. How does your community service project supporthuman rights?They support people and events that bring thecommunity together through education. 8. MAD Event- Interview QuestionsNorma Vargas What do human rights mean to you?As stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, We areequally entitled to our human rights without discrimination.These rights are all inter-related, interdependent andindivisible. What human rights issue do you see today?Childrens bullying today is becoming more serious. Themethods have tended to become more extreme, persistent andinsidious. Bullying has increased. What would you do to support the cause of human rights?What I would do to solve this problem is raise the consciousnessof people about human rights. Its important to respect thedifferences of others as individuals. What are you doing for community service?As a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, I help build and painthomes for people who need a home, but cant afford to buyone. How does your community service project support humanrights?Habitat for Humanity helps people who are homeless get a newhome which they build with us. 9. What human rights issue do you see today?Abuse is an issue that I see as a problem that needs tobe solved. What would you do to support the cause of humanrights?I help clean the community to help it look nicer. What are you doing for community service?I help keep our campus and community clean throughcommunity service projects conducted by the MarineJunior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MJROTC). How does your community service project support humanrights?It supports human rights by making us more mature andappreciate the community that we have by learning howto take care of it. 10. MAD Event- Interview QuestionsKevin Villalobos What do human rights mean to you?Human Rights gives the citizens of any country theopportunity to live freely and have rights as a free people. What human rights issue do you see today?One of the issues of the modern world today is that somecountries dont have the human rights. This causes thecitizens in those countries to live in fear and hopelessness. Aterrorist organization group called ISIS is heartless as itkidnaps and tortures people to gain power in the region. What would you do to support the cause of human? I wouldlike to donate money to help the people in the Middle Eastwho need medical aid and education because some childrenare afraid to go to school because of these terrorist groups. What are you doing for community service?For community service, I do parking detail; just lead driversto their parking spot. The other event I do: DUI Drivingunder the Influence Checkpoint. I serve as security patrolfor the people and check the drivers to make sure that theyare not intoxicated for the people so the city will be safe. How does your community service project support humanrights? The DUI Checkpoint Program supports human rightsbecause Im securing the citizens safety and make sure theyare okay. I always need to be polite and nice to the citizenseven when theyre not polite to me. 11. MAD Event- Interview QuestionsJazmin Vega What do human rights mean to you?They mean that everyone has rights to follow; to havefreedom, justice, and peace in the world according to the U.N.Declaration of Human Rights. What human rights issue do you see today?You know how every special ed. kid in wheelchairs and cantmove and cant talk? Well, I think that needs to changebecause we need to help people in those kind of situationsand not them be dependent. What would you do to support the cause of human rights?I would try to be more involved in the community and maketheir lives better; make them happy by being there for themwhen they need it. What are you doing for community service?Im going into the community with Lunch Buddies. The wholepurpose of the program is to really be there with their kids,making sure that everyone has a Buddy from the regular ed.(mainstream) kids. How does your community service project support humanrights?My service project goes out and helps people who are inwheelchairs. We help take them around places and help to getthem involved in the community. It supports human rightsbecause they all have the right to be with others and not withthe same group.
