Core elements of role

• Commissioning of cancer services: work with CCG and secondary care to ensure services meet local needs

• Collaborative work with GPs: raise profile and standard of cancer care, sharing good practice, encourage uptake of Macmillan tools

• Education programme: enhance knowledge and skills of primary care

• Communication: improve communication between primary and secondary care, engage with patients and carers

National Cancer Patient Experience Survey (CPES) 2014

• All adult patients (aged 16 and over) with a primary diagnosis of cancer who had been admitted to an NHS hospital as an inpatient or as a day case patient, and had been discharged between 1st September and 30th November 2013.

• The CPES provides information that can be used to drive local quality improvements, both by Trusts and Commissioners, and is consistent with the objectives of NHS policy.

• Postal surveys were sent to patients’ home addresses following their discharge.

• 235 patients responded to the survey from the Trust
