Alignment of the Propulsion Shafts?

Propulsion shaft alignment is a static condition observed at the bearings supporting the propulsion shafts which leads to get the optimum performance of the engine, to lower the shaft and bearing failures, to lower the unwanted vibrations, etc…

How it is achieved?

• Alignment is done when the ship is in floating condition.

• Aligning begins from the Tail shaft.

• Sag and gap method is used to align the shafts.

• Misalignment allowance is 0.05mm.

• Repeated inspection to obtain the best results.

How they are fixed?

The mounting kit consists of Bolt, Spherical Washer, top washer bolt and a Nut. They are fixed as shown in the figure.
