The Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark,
jointly managed by Fermanagh and Omagh District
Council and Cavan County Council, includes a wide
variety of sites of interest allowing locals and visitors
to the area appreciate the very best of what this
unspoiled region has to oer. This year, the
European Geoparks Network celebrates 20 years
in operation and we are delighted that our Geopark
was one of the first 8 to join the Network back in
2001. Today the Network has 75 UNESCO Global
Geoparks across 26 countries.
For 2020, our aim is to host a range of events which
encourage people with various interests and abilities
to engage with their Geopark – its unique
landscapes, geology and stories and to attract
visitors to this wonderful region.
The Geopark covers an extensive area, almost
20,000 hectares in size containing over 50 sites of
natural, historical or cultural interest. Our Geopark
Ambassadors are crucial to the delivery of the
events programme and with their on-going support
and assistance we are able to deliver a truly diverse
and engaging events programme.
At all our sites we promote the Leave No Trace
Principles as well as the Geopark Code. Please be
responsible and wear warm waterproof clothing and
sturdy footwear.
Events may be added, altered or cancelled and most
are weather dependant so please check our website
www.marblearchcavesgeopark.com or social media
pages for updated details.
