The Macey Ann Square is the second in a series of squares named after my grandchildren. My intention is to design a square that demonstrate their personalities. Standing Stitch • Start with a slip stitch on your hook.

• Insert your hook into the designated st or ch sp and finish the st as normal. Moogly Video: https://youtu.be/8MsVeIId2UY

pc4 • Work 4 dc st in the same st.

• Drop the loop from your hook. • Insert your hook from front to back under the top 2

loops of the first double crochet of the group.

• Grab the dropped loop with your hook and pull it through the st.

dtr • Yarn over 3 times, insert hook into next st, yarn over,

pull up a loop, (yarn over, pull through two loops) 4 times.

trtr

• Yarn over 4 times, insert hook into next st, yarn over, pull up a loop, (yarn over, pull through two loops) 5 times.

Long hdc

• Yarn over, insert hook into designated st and pull up a loop. Pull the loop up almost to the length of the previous st.

• Yarn over once and pull through the last three loops on hook.

Long dc

• Yarn over, insert hook into designated st and pull up a loop. Pull the loop up almost to the length of the previous st.

• Yarn over once and pull through the first two loops. Yarn over again and pull through the last two loops on hook.

Long tr • Yarn over twice, insert hook into designated st and pull

up a loop. Pull the loop up almost to the length of the previous st.

2-dc-cluster • Yarn over, insert hook in st, yarn over, pull through st,

Back-Stitch

• Identify the designated stitch and fold the work toward you. Insert your hook into the inverted “v” of the stitch one row below, from back to front, move around the base of the stitch and complete the stitch (sc, hdc, dc, etc.).

Invisible Join • Do not join after the last st of the rnd is completed; cut

the yarn and pull the yarn tail through the st.

• Remove hook and insert it from the back to the front of the 2nd st of the rnd; grab the yarn and gently pull through.

• Insert the hook from back to front and bottom to top of the center of the last st of the rnd; pull yarn gently through and weave in end.

Picot • Once you have completed the treble, ch 3, insert hook

into the back bar of the first ch, yarn over, pull though all loops on the hook.
