DMs ON WHEELS BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT Entrepreneurism is alive and well in Cape Breton as I discov-ered this week as I sat down and discussed small business withPhilip Brown, co-owner of DMs On Wheels. The business was described as a mobile service bringing gamesto individuals and the goal was to let more people enjoy anddiscover role playing games and D & D. Philip described recent gaming acitivity at the local Library andthey are looking to sponsor an event at Caper Con coming up atCentre 200 October 20-22. Both owners are experienced gamers and wanted to bring theirlove of gaming to a wider audience and they decided that thebest way to accomplish this was to offer a mobile service thatwould bring the gaming and their equipment to individuals and atevents. They accomplished this with no outside funding which is thetrue test of an entrepreneur. Future plans call for a gaming sys-tem which they are working on now and will introduce it after betatesting. They also will be offering character designs and battlescene mementoes. If you’d like to get in touch with these local gamers, checktheir Facebook Page or phone them - check out their ad contactinformation below.

GEORGE THOROGOOD -“Party of One” - I think it’ssafe to say that a lot of usknow that GeorgeThorogood is a rock’n’rolllegend. He’s been rockingand rolling with his band TheDestroyers for over 40 years, and has soldover 15 millionalbums. Butdid you knowthat there’sone musicalthing inparticular thatGeorge didn’tdo in all thattime? He neverreleased a solo album-untilnow. George Thorogood got hisfirst real mainstream breakwhen he was an opening actfor The Rolling Stones on their1981 American tour. He wasalso a musical guest on SNLin October of 1982. GeorgeThorogood and TheDestryoyers also developed areputation as a hard-workingroad band when they did the“50/50” tour in 1981, bytouring all 50 US states in 50days. However, if your musicalperception of GeorgeThorogood is based on songslike “Move It On Over”, “BadTo The Bone” and “Who DoYou Love” then this album willbe a surprise to you; there’sno The Destroyers here….thisis George Thorogood raw andunfiltered. It’s his tribute to thebeginnings of the blues-we’re
talking songs by the likes ofRobert Johnson, Willie Dixon,Brownie MacGhee andElmore James. As a matter of fact theopening track, “I’m A SteadyRollin’ Man” (Robert Johnson)conjours up an image ofGeorge on stage, alone withhis guitar, amp and a glass ofbourbon-surrounded bysmoke and a tre-cool blues-
loving audience.“Pictures FromLife’s Other Side”(Hank Williams)and “TallahasseeWomen” (JohnHammond Jr.) arestandout trackshere, and to behonest I preferGeorge’s version
of Bob Dylan’s “Down TheHighway” more than theoriginal. George also coverssongs by more contemporaryartists as well; his voice onJohnny Cash’s “Bad News” isa dead ringer for the “man inblack’ and George managesto totally capture the feel ofThe Rolling Stones on thesong “No Expectations”. At times George also playsslide guitar, dobro andharmonica on the songs, butfor all intents and purposesthis is a musical party of one.He only revisits his past withThe Destroyers once-on atotally different version of theclassic “One Bourbon, OneScotch, and One Beer”. As Imentioned earlier, this isdefinitely a departure fromwhat we normally associatewith the name GeorgeThorogood-but sometimeschange is a good thing, andin this case it definitely is.
