In 1897 Thomas Rothwell chose Edward Street as the site of what was to be, at that time, one of the foremost menswear stores in Brisbane – Rothwells Outfitting Limited.

Back then, it would have been hard for him to foresee that he was helping to set Edward Street on the path to becoming Brisbane’s key destination for quality retail shopping.

Yet, some 120 years later, Edward Street has indeed morphed into Brisbane’s mecca of high end brands.

Polo Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Watches of Switzerland, Chanel, Hardy Brothers, Rhodes & Beckett, Tiffany & Co, Salvatore Ferragamo, Hugo Boss and Hermès are but a few (many new to Brisbane) who have chosen to open their doors either in the high street or the shopping centres of the opulent Edward Street precinct” she said.

Akin to Melbourne’s Collins Street or Sydney’s Castlereagh Street, Edward Street has firmly established itself as Brisbane’s own luxury strip.
